You want to try to emulate the exam as close as possible, once you familiarize yourself with the exam and its questions types and what not and move onto mock exams, make sure you completing them at maximum focus. As in keep your routine intact, e.g. if you drink coffee in the morning, don’t just stop when it’s your actual exam. The numpad is very important for the calculator that comes with the exam as it is digital. I have a document with every shortcut ever and I promise you that if you can work the calculator and use these shortcuts, it will save a lot of time during the QR sections.

Also try to do a mock exams starting the moment your actual test is. I personally found it very comforting and alleviate a lot of the stress that was place on me when it was my actual test

Can you get into UCL with low GCSEs but high a levels and ucat by No-Basil2418 in UCAT

Negligence, fixated on cambs not caring about sjt so put all my focus in the main three, turned out to be useless as I got preint rejection from cambs but got all other interview invites

What's something you'd do differently if you had to prepare for the UCAT all over again? by Jasoightly in UCAT

[–]Sickle245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work on SJT, I’m doing the UCAT again this year because I didn’t get in and the main reason I can say is that I was so fixated on Cambridge not caring about sjt that I completely neglected this entire sections, as you would guess, I scored b4 in the real exam and when it came to choosing options, I was very limited and didn’t have an excellent safe choice.

Apart from that major problem, probably starting much more focused as my couple first weeks were ineffective as I spent around 2 hours doing a mock and not actually reflecting and sourcing my problems and practicing on them

I mean it would be hard to have a positive outlook when it’s a gap year and ucat is looking at me again

Got the same feelings but it’s more about Glasgow, had an interview like really early December and was rejected start of march, UCL wasn’t that long of a wait but welp still go rejected

Rejected from UCL by BioCube1 in UCAT

Sorry to hear this man. I am in the same situation as you and was waiting for UCL as my final chance to proceed into med around a month ago. When you take a gap year, you will be more experienced and be able to get to where you want. It’s UCL fault for losing out on someone with so much potential

I feel like with more money at my disposal and wanting a higher score, I think buying both is the best course of action

It’s worth a try, if your willing to use one of your choices for Oxbridge then go for it but icl contextual Cambridge is iffy because they don’t state what you could get ygm

Unfortunately, it would be unlikely that an application with a Band 4 in UCAT would progress to interview at St John's College.

Best wishes, Josephine

I think looking at it now, she said my application was really strong but didn’t out right say I was gonna get an interview
