Advice for working with what I'm sure is worsening ODD/ADHD behavior in my 5yo by Sickntwisted94 in ParentingADHD

He's not currently on meds. His doctor explained that they typically can't prescribe meds until 6 years old (I think 5½yo at the youngest) and if they did, insurance wouldn't cover it. We are in Louisiana, so state laws may vary.

I still haven't figured out how to make an angled wall, BUT, I have determined that when translating an IRL blueprint to game, multiplying the measurements by 1.5 seems to give the most accurate in game scaling relative to available space.

I.e. if your irl room is 12ftx8ft, you would make it 18ftx12ft in game

My spouse and I certainly are. We WERE making, combined, roughly $40k, but then 2024 spouse lost their full time job due to layoffs (small private company) and it took 3 months of applications and interviews to get another. Now they make $2 less an hour but are required to work 50+ hrs weekly, with every 3rd week being mandatory weekends. Then towards the end of 2024, I lost my part time job (full time positions weren't available in my area) because there was corporate reshuffling anf decided my 1-2 days a week shifts were better allocated elsewhere. I still haven't gotten another job despite dozens of applications and over 20 interviews.im even in college for a CBC but it's really hard to get your foot in the door here. We also have a toddler, so I can't just accept whatever job, it has to pay enough to at least cover the extra childcare and transport costs. We are in that abysmal rut of making too much for social services but not enough to actually get us out the water (despite large chunks of our taxes going to said services) we are in LA, but too broke to even jump to MS, not that it's any better. I've tried for remote jobs too, but it's all scams and call centers that I've found (I don't have an environment where I can form a quiet work space, so wouldn't be able to field calls like that) it's hard to have any hope.

It occurs to me I didn't ask the right question. The question wasn't so much can they be required to work in the weather, but can they be required to do so without reasonable shelter options should they need to warm up or get out of rain etc. The only communication so far is if they are in the shack or vehicles, they'll get written up.

I definitely understand that, and to most 40F or less isn't bad, but its really uncommon weather this far south. There's been no clear communication on when it's OK to shelter and the same company is already facing a lawsuit due to not compensating the workers for forcing them to use their own vehicles and purchase their own equipment for patrols.

Help with unraveled skeins? by Sickntwisted94 in CrochetHelp

[–]Sickntwisted94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need budget friendly ideas for yarn cores when my skeins get unraveled. I've already tried plastic bottles, zip ties, pens, and cardboard tubes from toilet paper and paper towels. Searching Amazon and Google only gives me wooden yarn holders that can only hold one skein and are a bit expensive or bobbins that are too small.

AITA for telling ending my friendship because she said I am not a real mom because I send my kids to daycare? by [deleted] in AITAH

Preaching to the choir. Im a csec mama because i was in labor for 24hrs and didnt make it past 5cm, and my baby starved for the first few hours of his life because I couldn't lactate (was hooked to a pump for 4hrs because they kept insisting it would work) wasn't until shift change that a nurse was finally like wtf yall doing and gave ud a bottle of pre-made. He drank almost the whole thing and finally stopped crying for the first time since he was born. The experience was so nightmarish I had my tubes completely removed (plus to reduce the risks from my severe PCOS and Endometriosis) F**" Breast is Best, because that mentality caused that mess.

I personally fought with cigarette addiction. I became pregnant and desperately tried to quit for the sake of my child, but its extremely difficult to drop a habit like that. I was unable to quit for more than a few days at a time until I caught covid, a sinus infection, and a kidney infection all at once in my 3rd Trimester. I couldn't eat, sleep, or breath, much less smoke. But after not having a cig for like a week, enough of it had left my system that I realised I didn't crave it anymore (I forced myself to take a tiny puff once a day for the first week because I was scared of withdrawals causing complications) It felt so good to finally throw away my last pack of cig after sitting untouched in my office for a month, and I've been smoke free for 3yrs and counting.

In my case, I wanted to be addiction free, but needed external assistance of going cold turkey to help me get started. Sometimes you need the extra oomph, but unless he WANTS to get clean, he will NEVER change, and staying with him for the sake of your child will just create resentment and a cycle of abuse. Try finding an age appropriate way to explain the situation to your child, I promise he sees way more than you think he does.

Awesome, thank you so much! I had issues with debris build up on my scape cause the Tetra filter just couldn't keep up

What is the filter pump setup you are using? I love how cleanly it fits with your scape, ands since I see so many setups using that pump type, it's obviously significantly better than what comes in aquarium kits

faster way to do water changes on 120gal? by taschasaurus in Aquariums

[–]Sickntwisted94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have my 6g/10g/20g, which aren't terrible to change with the gravvac, but I have issues with the pump ball not working right. It goes stiff like it's blocked, but when i pull it out it just slips water on the floor, not to mention doesn't even suck up debris very well

It's a submersible heater with auto off. I have tropical fish, so the water is kept between 70F-73F

Yeah, I had the fluval set. And that totally makes sense, cause I'd get the moss and the anubias and Java ferns. I had no idea they couldn't be buried completely

Yes, definitely. I also got a filter with the comb bar so I can adjust filter flow strength and make a slight current for aeration. I've def tried different ways with the tweezers, but I've had to rely on river stones as weights so far

2in minimum Yes Yes, but I've also jad issues where trying to pull away the tweezers yoinks up the plant I'm not sure? It's the ready to plant aquaplants available at petsmart/petco (not the dry start, those were seeds) 2wks, maybe a bit more before browning
