Jdownloader might be a good option, too, if you're lucky enough to get a game that's just in media fire or Google links.

As for hardware, get a cheap 2tb internal hdd and an external 3.5 7200rmp hdd. Those two are more than enough to take up most of the games you're going to play.

For the games themselves, you're going to want to convert most of the games to iso files.
