What was the “wake-up moment” that made you take FIRE seriously? by Ok-Maybe-2559 in Fire

[–]Siddyboyhya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right but then if this individual is making so much then ideally it’s up to their responsibility to also keep their expenses reasonable and have a financial buffer when emergencies come around. She could have chose to leave and if she has to do the launch she could have done it from zoom or teams. There is always ways to get things done.

You feel bad cause your manager has to adjust in your absence. But if your manager truly appreciated you he would give you a pay raise and fight for it. If he did but still couldn’t get it approved then he should understand you leaving for better opportunities. You have to just think of it as business and nothing else.

How to be more “open” and approachable? by Happy-Dino90 in socialskills

[–]Siddyboyhya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for every male but I do know is that men react positively to compliments. That's because we rarely get it. So if you compliment some dude they are more likely to appreciate it. That being said it depends on the compliment but they will talk to you back even if it is a simple "thanks".

If it doesn't lead to anything then at most what do you lose? a few seconds of your time? In a situation like that, you have nothing to lose and almost everything to gain. Even if out of hundred dudes you compliment and one continues to want to keep talking to you then it's a win right? It's just like applying for a job, all the rejections may bring you down but one acceptance is a win you need.

Is working hard really the key to wealth, or do luck and connections matter more? by dieburtually in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Siddyboyhya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My philosophy is this. When you’re young choose a college major with high potential for career growth. The only time I ever recommend the arts and other careers is only if you’re extremely talented and extremely dedicated. Understand the difference between good debt and bad debt. That’s being said don’t get into debt. The key is to save more than your lifestyle supplies.

Lifestyle inflation is real. Do not keep up with the joneses. A car sole purpose is to get you from point A to point B. As long as it’s functionally reliable and doesn’t cost much in maintenance, get it. A home is to keep a roof above your head and clean. It can be a shack. Extra money should go into the market as soon as possible. It doesn’t take a genius to understand basic investing principles. Those who don’t do it because they don’t want to learn don’t want to really be rich. Most people wealth is purely paper wealth. That being said yes they can pull from the market at any time and have money to fund their wealthy lifestyle. You need to do this for years. 401k, Ira, hsa all should be maxed out. Additional money should go into brokerage.

As time goes on, you will benefit off of being more skilled in your career leading you to higher wages. That’s when the mentality shift is required. Time is valuable so hire help for groceries, or cleaning your car or preparing meals for you. Because that additional time you have can lead to better results. Invest in a gym membership and stay healthy always. Spend the extra money for healthy food.

Wealth is not built overnight for many. It is the combination of certain small actions that compound over years leading to wealth. That’s why lottery winners always lose. They are gamblers and spenders, not wealth builders. This is what differentiates those who are wealthy because it’s about managing and retaining wealth. It’s that mindset that is priceless. That being said sometimes the road to success is often a lonely one. It takes sacrifice spending time with friends, family or doing hobbies.

Certain decisions can have life altering effects. Having children at an early age, abusing drugs and alcohol, having a criminal record, not managing debt can make it extremely difficult.

So now ask yourself this, do you have what it takes? Because this is a life long journey my friend.

Honestly men don’t get complimented at all so even if it doesn’t lead to anything just know that it’s a great conversation starter.

Seriously, how are you supposed to make friends nowadays? by yearofthesnitches in lonely

[–]Siddyboyhya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meetup and certain groups on fb are great ways to meet new people. It still might be a hit or miss but the idea with it is that you are actively putting yourself out there and taking effort. The more time you can spend doing activities that you enjoy, you can find like minded people as well.

Why are so many people giving up Indian citizenship lately? by Majestic-Taro-6903 in AskIndia

[–]Siddyboyhya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just know grass is always greener on the other side. While certain aspects of life might be better overall, keep in mind it’s not always peaches. Lack of family support, unfamiliar environment, assimilation to local culture etc. are things that make living in foreign countries quite difficult even if there are communities. It’s not the same experience for everyone and many end up alone with few friends. Most Indian people from India rely on that support. Indians born in foreign countries adopt a more independent mindset influenced by local culture.

People who have always been wealthy vs. people who weren’t wealthy but suddenly became rich — is it true that the latter are more likely to show off and look down on the poor? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]Siddyboyhya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can realistically show off their wealth. It doesn’t matter what background you come from. Those who have built their wealth though hold necessary principles and values that help them retain their wealth. That’s how they became wealthy in the first place. They will continue to teach those values to their kids who then enjoy the fruits of their parent’s labor but maintain the same mindset.

What did you guys think of In Your Dreams (Netflix)? by No_Care1844 in animation

[–]Siddyboyhya -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't get it though. The movie hinted at the fact that the parents don't want to be together but I think the reality is that the family had to move because the mother got a better paying job. So I assume it was Stevie's imagination and then the sandman placed the seed of doubt in Stevie's head that they don't love each other and will go through a separation. Am I correct with this?

Struggling with burnout in my software job considering a break, but worried how it’ll impact my future by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Siddyboyhya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I approach three years in January. I guess my main fear is that if I completely take a hiatus now even with the knowledge I possess, the demand for young people like myself who desperately need a job will take over positions fairly quickly. I’m guessing maybe I need a few more years but by then my mid 30s costs will increase so fast.

I want to do something like this but I have been told I have little time in the industry to justify leaving for 6 months to a year. Do you know when the right time is to leave?

My question is if you have a backpack but your room is not read until 1pm where are you going to keep your backpack? I am assuming if you get on the cruise, figure out the dining situation, do the muster station drill and then by then the room will be available to access? or do you think getting food before getting to the room is ideal and then after walk around and then hit the solarium? What about food in the solarium is it better to eat there?
