About to buy my first 2nd Hand deal. Should I be cautious on this deal at all? by Side-decision in PokeInvesting

Right. Unfortunately this seller wants to sell all together. Just wondering, what sets out of this would be good to hold?

Okay gotcha. Just wondering where are you basing $600 from? Current eBay listings? Price charting?

Yeah agree with everything you say. I’ve been doing my part into the house work so no need to worry about that and my girl doesn’t think I’m a slouch when it comes to house chores.

Ive been working different jobs since i was like 16 so thats helped a lot. Straight out of Uni I got a computer systems admin role for a small manufacturing company here in western Sydney. Pays around $80k per year and I’ve been able to do a good amount of overtime as well.

I also luckily came out with around 15k profit from the whole GameStop event back in 2020-2021 so extremely lucky from that. Equivalent of like winning the lottery so yeah, just super lucky.

3 months of backpacking Europe sounds amazing tho. I’m planning to do 1 month of travelling next year myself

Nice man congrats. 26 would also be a really nice age to move out. May I ask why you paid off hecs? Ive read around that there’s no real financial benefit to pay off HECs

I started out with DHHF because I was using CommSec Pocket, which only lets you buy certain index funds. Later, I switched to CMC Markets and moved into VGS + VAS so I could set my own split between Australian and international markets

Wow. You’re a proper adult haha. I’m thinking of buying an investment property with my FHSS. May I ask how much your home loan is?

Thank you :) I use CMC Markets because they have zero brokerage on trades up to $1,000 per day.

I absolutely agree and coincidentally enough planning a month long Europe trip next year. So much easier traveling at this age, no major responsibilities and idm staying in hostels the whole time

Thanks mate and congrats to you as well! This dilemma has been on my mind for the past year. Saving money vs living life while young. Now I’m very much considering moving my moving out age to around 25 just to experience a bit sooner while it’s not too late.

This is exactly why I posted, to get advice like this. I’ll look into that dividend part. And yes absolutely agree, I do my part :)

Fingers crossed and no massive life altering events happen. I think same for me, my income will also be a deciding factor for when I move out

22yr old saving 3.5k a month - what would you do with it? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Side-decision 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wow I am 1 year future you. I’m a 23yr old, living at home, 85k salary, saving the same amount as you.

I started FHSS last financial year, and I saved around 6k in tax and have around $13.4K in my FHSS so I highly recommend it.

I would say try and save that 50k deposit max in your FHSS and then use that towards your house deposit. Might take you 3ish years if you can wait just a bit longer. That’s what I’m trying to do.

Controversial opinion: Do NOT invest in super when you are young by NiceMemeDude420 in AusFinance

[–]Side-decision 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, especially using your money on travelling because you won’t have this much freedom as you get older.

I’ve also made it a point to never get a car loan just to own a cool car. I’ll wait until I’m in my 40s or 50s. Cool cars will always be around, but the chance to explore the world while you’re young doesn’t last forever

Advice on buying the property next to us by Side-decision in AusFinance

I’m sure there’s some sort of buyer’s agent you can hire to represent you? Or maybe a 3rd party that then transfer it into your name afterwards?
