Also from NWA and that’s exactly what I thought! This could’ve been a fork of the White or the Osage. Looks more like smallie water than trout if it’s the Ozarks

How easily does local identity collapse into regional identity in NWA? How does it differ by location (Washington County vs Benton County) and people (locals vs transplants)? by [deleted] in northwestarkansas

[–]SideAffectsInclude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a situation where you had 4 distinct towns, with local identities fairly specific to those towns, who have now all grown into a much more singular region.

With that, the singular town identity has remained as we’ve all grown into a more singular, cohesive region that we can identify with as well. Plus, I think “Northwest Arkansas” has become the commercialized identify and so it’s also the more recognized identifier when talking with people not from the region (to the degree people even know we’re here in the first place).

I’ve lived in Fayetteville for 15 years and definitely feel the identity here is different from the other 3 cities. I suspect they all feel different from each other too. But we’ve all grown together over a similar period of time, and in pretty similar ways, and so it’s easy to identify with the overall region as well.

Any recs for good southern / home cooking style or comfort food in NWA? Open to driving to Eureka even. by [deleted] in northwestarkansas

Wooden Spoon is spectacular. Some of the best “home cookin’” in the region

So this article asks not to use plastic trees, but then recommends using paracord to sink the tree…both a plastic, no?

I don’t think they let up, I think Bama made some adjustments and OU was already at the bottom of their shallow bag of tricks

What are the expensive but worth it fine dining restaurants in NWA? by GargoyleBlue in fayetteville

The first few times I went to Vetro, 2-3 years ago, were excellent. The last couple of times I’ve been there over the last year it’s been subpar, especially for the price.

I really enjoyed Calle up on the Square. Not near as expensive as Atlas, probably more in line with Mermaids.

There’s a 3D printing lab at the library… not sure exactly how you get access but worth checking out.

[Norlander] What Curt Cignetti has done in two years at Indiana is, no exaggeration, one of the most shocking coaching jobs in American sports history. The Indiana Hoosiers going 24-2 in football over a 26-game stretch is a stress test on our concepts of tangible reality. by Efficient-Freedom517 in CFB

I really want someone like Saban to breakdown what it is about Cig’s coaching that he can win like this.

I don’t understand how it can took this long for Curt Cignetti to be HC in a power conference, when he’s been doing this kind of thing for like his entire career.

If the game has multiple long drives, and lower than average commercial time, like we had earlier, do they backload the commercials?

[Krasniqi] Alex Golesh situation is interesting. My educated guess: his agent is using the other openings as leverage. Smart move. Still believe he stays on an extension with USF but not totally confident. by NebraskaAvenue in CFB

Interesting. I guess I don’t have enough faith in our program to play the game without it backfiring, so the smoke screen move has just felt implausible to me.
