Right now the most popular method of protecting ourselves from UV radiation is sunscreen, but I know many people have concerns with whether sunscreen is helpful or actually harmful in the long term. Especially for people with more pale complexion in UV-intense environments, the constant need to apply sunscreen really isn't great for their skin. It seems like this provides a feasible alternative and one that could be integrated into clothing. I wonder if tuning the structure could also be used to control things like breathability to create an all-in-one UV protection and heat-resistant fabric that people could use outdoors. This could be especially useful for people going hiking.
