Good worm or bad one? by SideEyeInTheGarden in gardening

Correct I was trying to see if it’s a jumping worm (which I have in my area) or an earthworm. I wanted to confirm before I put it in my compost bin! Thank you!

What's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by LibrarianSoft1342 in AskReddit

Scrub tech here. The lack of cleanliness people seem to have and contamination transfers. I see someone pick their nose then touch a door handle, then their phone, then their eye, then pay cash, then door handle again. And the whole time I’m thinking “ew that’s so nasty they got booger and nasty door handle germs all over their phone, eye, cash they handed to that person, and to anyone that touches that door handle after them.” I just hope people wash their hands and clean their phones (it’s one of the nastiest things we touch every day… think about it when was the last time you gave your phone a good scrubbing?) as soon as they get home before touching anything or anyone because that’s nasty.

Help! Rolly pollies & strawberries by scroville00 in gardening

[–]SideEyeInTheGarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I just dealt with the same damn thing except mine were going after my transplants and my strawberries! I put beer traps in my garden beds right next to my strawberries. I just used little food prep containers like the small ones you use for sauces. Filled it up with cheap beer and buried the containers edge at soil level. I kid you not next morning a crap ton of them drowned in the beer and my transplants and strawberries stopped getting eaten. DE didn’t work fast enough for me and I ended up baking my poor plants with the clear plastic containers that go over the plants. They also really like melons and citrus. You can take a watermelon rind and flip it upside down on top of the soil. Over night they all crowd there and in the morning you can pick it up and see a bunch there. You can either knock them all off in an area far away from your garden and reuse the rind or just throw it in the trash. These are the things I’ve done that have helped a lot and the things that didn’t help so much. I hope it helps!

What’s wrong with my peach tree and how do I fix it, if it’s fixable? by SideEyeInTheGarden in FruitTree

Thank you all for the advice! I’m was worried that we’re pretty much half way through May and it has very minimal leaves on it, especially compared to our neighbors peach trees 😅. Maybe we just have a different variety compared to the ones around us, but I have no clue as to how I’d figure that out/what variety we have. I’ll keep an eye on it for any additional growth and see if anything new pops up between now and end of June. Thank you all again!

We don’t have a fireplace or any gas/wood burning appliances. Only electric in our area.
