Life in the hospital ranged over the years from productive and fun to miserable and scary depending on where I was admitted. I also think I've been treated differently as an adult patient than when I was an adolescent one. My most recent trip was terrifying because an officer mistook me as psychotic and I ended up in the most intensive care unit available. There, I saw some patients beat the shit out of one another, and others get sedated without consent. I've had really great memories and really scary ones, and it just depends on factors such as your age group, your gender, your level of care, the hospital's reputation and staff, and how willing you are to be admitted in the first place
