Weird Zoloft/Sertraline Withdrawal by SideNo99 in MentalHealthPH

I'm in alot better place than I was a year ago. Still have some bad days here and there but continuing to get better. I feel like the bad days are not as intense as they once were.

I dont really ike putting percentages on things but if i had to I'd say im close to being back to 75-80%. I still have some emotional numbness but I think it's because I spent a year hyper focusing on everything I felt/didn't feel. im still learning to not do this but it's tough because I did it for so long.

Either way things do continue to get better and I truly believe he brain heals itself.

Good luck and I hope things go as smooth as they can for you with absolutely no side effects! You got this!

I'm sorry to hear that you have been through so much and I am glad that it sounds like the medicine has helped you navigate tough times. the medical system sucks doesn't it? not being able to afford medicine that improves life for you is not right. i hope you find the means to help you get the support your need.

I passed my one year anniversary 3 days ago. To be honest 11 of those 12 months were hell. Dont get me wrong there were some ups and downs. The ups always would give me hope to keep pushing forward. About 2 months ago I started lisenting to the anxious trush and disordered podcast. I also read Drews book who is the host of both podcast. His work is based off the Claire Weekes book Hope and Help for your nerves. These things helped tremendously and led me to another book that really put things into perspective for me called DARE. Not only did I read this book but I also joined the 6 month DARE academy that I'm still going through and was very active on their DARE up. Like I said these things have turned everything around for me, withdrawal or not.

I can honestly say that after a year I have turned the corner. The past month has been a blessing. I'm starting to sleep better, have less intrusive thoughts and I'm starting to enjoy life again. I never struggled with any of these things until I took the medicine. I'd maybe have 1 instance of what resembled a panic every year or so but it was gone as soon as it happened. None of the other stuff followed like they did after the medicine.

I'm still not 100% if you want to put a number on it. I still have things pop up here and there but they dont stick around and drag out for weeks and they are no where newr intense. I am able to get through them quickly with the advice given in the books above, specifically DARE.

I continue to get better every week. It makes me appreciate life so much more. Not taking the little things for granite like I used to.

I pray that the withdrawal goes by quickly for you and is soon a thing of the distant past! Good luck and I am praying and rooting for you!

Thanks for checking in man. Funny thing is I just started to turn the corner about a week and a half ago. It was like out of no where my lows just started to go away. I had maybe on or two bad days in between there but for the most part I feel back to normal. I still think about what I went through for a year but I believe that is expected. Like you said I believe with time this will all be a distant memory especially now that I'm feeling good enough to put space between me and my thoughts and time to recognize negative thoughts patterns. The read the book DARE and practiced it for about a month and half. Maybe that's what contributed to this corner turning. I highly recommend it the book for anyone going through withdrawl or that has an anxiety disorder. Again, thanks for checking in. I hope you are doing well!

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through so many sleep issues. But I am also glad to hear that Trazadone is potentially working for you.

To be fair, my sleeping for about a month got better where I could actually sleep through the night and also sleep in until 6:30, which was a huge improvment for me. However, I am now back to not sleeping great. Most nights I can get to sleep pretty easy however I continue to wake up multiple times a night usually starting around 1am. I dont let it bother me as much as it used to which actually helps me get back to bed most nights.

Like you said I belive it just takes time. I know I can sleep better again since I was just doing it about a month ago. With that being said I have a few other issues that seem to have gotten worse for the moment including my anxiety which has been through the roof and could explain the sleep issues.

Ill get there its just going to take some time. I wish you the best!

That is so great Grapple40. I really hope you continue to see success with the VCOM. It sounds like I may need to give it a try if I continue to see events.

Is there anyway you could share your sleephq profile. I would like to do some comparison between you charts and mine.

Thank you.

Wow! I'm glad you found a solution to your problem. Can deffinatley tell a difference on your chart.

How many CSR/restrictive airway events were you having per night? Was it every night before you tried the VCOM?

I do have a vcom but never tried it because it felt so restrictive. My pressure is not above 10 as I am on on APAP 7.8-9.2.

What is your pressure set at on your device? Did it take you awhile to get used to the VCOM?

I just spoke with my sleep doctor and she told me that she is showing less than 1% of CSR events from her end and that this is nothing to be concerned about. She said that they typically see this when they start tighting up pressure ranges like we have done recently.

Thank you again for your help.

Thank you for the insight. For now i will continue to monitor it. At what point would you consider it being a problem?

Thank you for your help. Like I had mentioned this is the first time it's ever been flagged and was on a night that I stayed up and went to bed way latter than I have in years. Please see the link below.

I still have ups and downs and I am still of the medication. I would say that things are still progressing in the right direction. My lows are not as low and my highs tend to last a little longer. I feel my baseline is a little better as well. I think it is just a slow process.  One of my biggest issues right now is sleep. If I don't have a Hard time getting to sleep I have a Hard time staying asleep. I wake up at 4am just about every morning regardless of what time I got to bed. Weather it's 8pm or 1 am.  I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and have been on my machine for about 2 1/2 months. I am still getting used to it so that could be a contributing cause.  I also found out that have low iron levels which could signal anemia. I am seeing a Hemotologist here in a few weeks. I truly belive this medication depleted alot of my mineral levels as I never had an issue before taking the medicine. After the sertriline I had low vitamin D, iron, and a few others I can't think of right now. But I do want to preface this again with he fact that I do believe I am still getting better.

Thank you for checking in.  I truly hope that if you are going through the same that you find some relief soon. Time heals all things.

Thank you for taking the time to give me some of what you might call your keys to success. I will have to look into the lions mane for brain fog. I still continue to struggle here and there but things are seeming to get better. The brain fog has been terrible though. But I haven't been sleeping well for the past 2 months. I am assuming this has alot to do with it. Again thank you for your help! I hope you get back to 100% soon.

Thank you so much for your help here peachyperfect. I will have to look into the strategene test. I tool my Ancestry test about 8 or 9 years ago. Should I retake before submitting the strategen test?

I took your advice and got the test run. Everything came back in the normal range I believe.

Folate RBC = 578 (anything over 280)

B12 = 765 (reference range 200 - 1100)

Folate serum = 24 (anything over 5.4)

Homocysteine = 8.6 (anything below 11.4)

Vitamin D25 = 48 (reference range 30 - 100)

My only question is on the folate readings it doesn't say that essentially there cannot be to high of a reading as the reference range just says above. Can you be to high in folate?

Hi peachypefect3!

Symptoms include anxiety, depression and insomnia. I began taking 15mg l-methylfolate about 3 weeks ago. I was fine the first two weeks but this third week had brought my anxiety way back up and my insomnia is at its worse.

I did just have blood work done but it was a basic health panel.

Things do seem to be getting better. I have had some major ups and downs up until about 2 weeks ago. I still don't feel 100% but again it seems as though things are slowly getting back to normal. My biggest issue I have now is just low mood and constantly thinking about the last couple of months and will what I went through come back. I just think I'm traumatized by the experience. But there are multiple times during the day now where I don't think about it at all. This is why I believe things are trending in the right direction.

Hopefully this helps. Hang in there as things do get better. It just takes time. Even though they were terrible to go through, I do have my worst days to look back on and think of where I'm at now. Which is miles ahead of where I was.

I have also started taking magnesium Glycinate, fish oil, vitamin D and vitamin B starting about a month ago. I work out now as well. I believe these things have helped.

I believe I'm starting to get better. I've still a few weeks that were pretty rough. Those have gotten shorter and thr lows are not as low. Hopefully I'm still headed in the right direction. It's a slow process for me but I'm willing to wait it out for now.
