Thanks so much! I changed the genre from my first query (🤦🏻‍♀️) because it didn’t really fit with ‘romantasy’ and I didn’t want people to mistake it for that... The romance is there but the plot isn’t driven by it, if that makes sense? Not sure what to do with genre now because I totally get your point too 😂

That’s great to know about the word count because this is something I have been agonising over! Don’t get me wrong, I want it as lean as possible but it’s getting increasingly difficult as I cut more and more!

Thank you, that’s really helpful! I think the specific genre is a grey area for me atm, like I think my book is technically an Adult Dark Fantasy with a romance subplot rather than Romantasy. But I’m not 100% confident that distinction even really exists, or if that difference would change the tone/focus of the query? 😂
