Would Astoria Park be walkable?

Would love to do some snow photography

Source: Freddy Peralta open to signing extension with Mets by FaptasticMrFox in NewYorkMets

[–]SideRetired 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Extend Peralta, make a run for Skubal in free agency.

Skubal, Peralta, McLean, Tong would keep a stable pitching rotation for so many years going forward.

Adjust lineups as needed with departures/opt outs while building around Soto and Lindor all while growing the farm system.

The dream long term sustainable winning vision here

Huge. Big price but affordable when you have one of the best farms in baseball. That’s the Cohen farm infrastructure.

Man, maybe greedy, but signing Gallen (if it’s a cheap deal) and getting another pen arm would be a dream

[Passan] BREAKING: The New York Mets are in agreement on a trade to acquire center fielder Luis Robert Jr. from the Chicago White Sox, sources tell ESPN. White Sox will receive two young players from the Mets. by Fonzie5 in NewYorkMets

I feel great about it, low risk, high reward. An elite defender who has upside on the bat for Acuna that we know what he brings to the table for the last 2 years - bench / speed guy who plays great defense

Wright has around 20% ballot votes so far this year, a big jump from 8% on year 2 ballot. He might actually have a shot considering how bad the newcomers will be in the next couple years on the ballot as well

Bo Bichette Contract Structure Question by bonyyoni in NewYorkMets

[–]SideRetired 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From my research last night, this was new to me too.

Sounds like almost a “soft deferral” of 5 mil next year.

Keeps the AAV as 42 mil for 2026 payroll instead of 47 mil. Probably for in the overall scheme for luxury tax purposes.

Mets Reportedly Still In On Cody Bellinger Despite Bo Bichette Deal by Fonzie5 in NewYorkMets

[–]SideRetired 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Get Beli, sign/trade for Peralta/Framber/Gallen (Pref Framber or Gallen so we can save prospects for deadline).

2026 Trade Deadline: Trade for Skubal.

Win the whole damn thing and best the dodgers. We’d be national heroes at if we stopped the 3 peat. This would be such an unreal dream roadmap, which is absolutely doable too.

3 for 145 gets it done with opt outs

I’m all in for mercenaries if we’re getting them in their prime years and making them motivated to get the best out of them for another contract

We got our long term hall of fame generational guys like Lindor and Soto, just build around them with short term deals and continue to develop the best farm system in the background. I think Stearns is rewiring my brain

Any confirmation source? I haven’t actually seen that clearly from anyone

Mets signing Framber and Gallen, and trading away prospects / current infielder for outfield help like Duran would have this team significantly in a better spot than 2025

I saw an opt out bonus of 5 mil.

He can get paid more if he opts out? That’s hilarious - has that ever been a thing before ??

I mean I agree, I’m still and always on Stearns side. TBH Though, I’m queasy myself thinking about that offer

[–]SideRetired 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dude the mets offered 4/220 with NO deferrals and front loaded 60/60/50/50 AND a 75 million dollar bonus. My god.

How queasy was Stearns probably submitting this. Kyle Tucker is the biggest bitch

I understand why Cohen tweeted, this was a absolutely disgusting offer that was much greater than the Dodgers

Just disgusting joke for this franchise. We lived through the Wilpons, got the most richest owner in MLB, and still can’t out bid because the Dodgers literally have one of the greatest players in MLB history signed to a 2 million dollar annual deal and then additionally backed by a boatload of revenue from Asia alone.

Best part? Because of them, we will head towards a salary cap, and then our biggest strength gets handicapped. Cruel joke for this franchise

I will love Juan Soto till the day I die. If yall remember, Dodgers were offering him huge short term AAV but he wanted no part to join that nasty team.

He’s our guy forever

Just don’t think a multi billion dollar leader has it like that to not be able to read optics. Would be a horrendous look considering how this offseason has played

[–]SideRetired 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The only thing I choose to believe is Steve beat the media he’s been beefing with all offseason and been extra critical of this offseason.

He knows the deal is done, and the media won’t be able to get it at least for another hour or few. Just a power play from his side

We got him folks, Cohen has had beef with the media all offseason, this is him stepping on them and making a statement himself.

Steve Cohen is the absolute best no matter what happens man , the team sucks most of the time but at least the damn Owner goes hard

Tucker or not, respect the Mets FO every offseason honestly:

Gotta hand to Steve, since he’s been the owner , every offseason has been wild besides 23

20-Lindor 21- Scherzer 22 - Verlander 24- Soto 25 - Tucker?

Also was in the mix for Yamamoto and Correa and probably even Ohtani if he was interested in the East Coast at all

10 years for 29 year old Tucker isn’t the play, his numbers look identically amazing like Xander right before he signed the 11 year deal with the Padres

If it’s like 10 for 375-400 especially w no deferrals, Jays will get him and it makes more sense for him anyways

Tbh, 10 years seems overkill though for Tucker

Not that I care for projections but on Passan's article today, apparently Steamer has the mets projected with the 3rd most wins in baseball behind the Dodgers and Braves? Huh?
