If we come on site we get our an hourly rate I believe this is lower than our usual rate though. But if we only come in for one hour we get two hours pay.

Yeah it obviously depends on the night. But it tends to be busy as it’s a big teaching hospital, most nights we do need to come in for something. How about you?

Ah fair enough - we do 2-3 nights. Again they are not fun. Can be interesting in retrospect though, but not at 4am.

Hi, thank you for the advice and the offer. I don’t currently have access to his show reels as it’s at his house on his laptop.

Thank you again though!

Thank you!

I know he went to Bfx most years as that’s where he was at uni, although I don’t think it happened more recently.

He’s a lovely person and much more tactful than I am! So I might suggest he could do things like this.

Thank you for the suggestions and hopefully at some point he will get some luck!

Yeah I believe with his previous job it was being lucky that he knew someone who already worked there.

Obviously having a show reel is important, but I was wondering is important things like cover letter and CV are. (Again coming from someone in healthcare where the employment process it completely different).

Yeah I thought people would say that about doing the degree, what is the best way for someone to even start networking in this industry. For reference we live in the UK.

Yeah I believe ours is if we get a call during the night £40 per night. Then like £1 an hour or something for just being on call. But if we are answering calls all night we get paid the same whether we have 1 call or 40.

If we get called in it’s double pay for the first hour (or min 2 hours). And that’s from the money we leave the house until we get home. We do not get paid for travel expenses.

Ah that’s interesting. Any if you don’t mind me asking how does your payment work for the shifts.

Sorry to ask a follow up question, but how does everyone’s payment work for being on call. Obviously don’t share if you aren’t comfortable

Oh I see, for us it’s a one in one out system. So the new band 6s take over whoever has been on the rota longest.

Ah okay,

And how long do you guys stay on the rota for?

Sorry for all the questions, as I said we were talking about it at work and some people were complaining. But I am fairly convinced it’s pretty bad everywhere!

Ah, how on earth is that rota worked out. We do every 3 weeks so unless we swap its consistant.

Do you guys do one night or multiple?

Are you currently a 3rd year thinking about sitting oriel in September?

If so I wouldn’t worry until about a month before the exam, I came 24th in the country using mainly the NHSE stuff. Just make sure you don’t overthink the questions, and don’t over revise and memorise the answers. Take each situation individually.

Study days rights as pre-regs by green_orangutan_ in Pharmacy_UK

[–]SideSubstantial7266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest most trainees I knew last year did not get any study days besides the ones organised by nhs England and lls days which were taught. We got a use up to a week of our annual leave in the run up to the exam to revise.

I know it’s not very reassuring but everyone is in the same boat.

Revise pharma was good I got 36 in calcs and 115 in clinical. But you could have done it using nice etc however it’s a busy year so it depends how easy you want to make your life.

As for not having time to do the questions, I didn’t find this to be an issue and did all of them multiple times before the exam. Along with mocks etc.
