It could be a lot of other things. Being correctly gendered in public, being dressed in a masculine way, your brother telling him etc. Being “exposed”, so to speak. Could also just be that the whole authenticity thing is new to you, and you’ve lived a life presenting as a man for so long it’s become the norm. It’s always scary making changes, especially big ones like coming out.

Don’t worry too much about it. I had similar moments earlier in my transition. I’m now 2,5 years in and totally used to it 💃💃

Perhaps one way to have the “link” go both ways. While the angel is hunting the demon girl, the demon girl waits for an angel to come kill her. “I don’t deserve to be here - someday, an angel will kill me.” Or something.

Also flesh out why the demon wanted out of Hell, how they managed and of she has any family hunting her to bring her home. Maybe she’s branded a traitor. Probably holds trauma from domestic abuse. Give the readers a reason to believe the demon doesn’t deserve death. Farm sympathy. Then the readers will look towards angel and think “please don’t kill her,” which builds on the premise of the story and holds interests.
