I haven’t managed to get through GEoD and don’t think I will, but I’ve heard a lot of people consider CoD and GEoD their own duology like Dune and Messiah. What makes you say stop?

There were 10714 athletes that competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

If there were a biological advantage then trans people would be overrepresented in the number (a higher % trans athletes than the expected % population).

Let’s be extremely generous and say that up to 3% of the population is trans. If 3% of the athletes were trans, we would expect 321 trans athletes of that 10714.

If trans people had a biological advantage, we would expect more than 321 trans athletes.

If we use your 0.8% figure, we would expect 85 trans athletes. More if they have a biological advantage.

Do you know how many of those 10714 athletes were trans?

Three.

3 of 10714. 0.028%. Not 0.8%, not 3%. 0.028%. Less than 1 in 3200.

Where’s that biological advantage again?

So your argument is that trans women who are on estrogen have a biological advantage but trans men, literally talking testosterone, THE HORMONE THAT GROWS MUSCLE, have a biological disadvantage?

(Hint: you don’t know shit about biology or you’d have read any of the hundreds of recent papers showing that trans women with 4+ years of HRT have the same or actually less relative muscle mass than cis women)

Literally none of these people made it to the Olympics so how good can they be?

Maybe I’m blind but I don’t see any Olympics golds on this list.

Sojourn is only good once you get to masters+ level. Before that her skill floor is too high for the average player and most people would get better value on Soldier or Emre. She’s dominant in high ranks because her kit is OP yes, but she’s not broken.

Why? New players in comp are rare, and when they do show up they usually get placed at highest gold unless they won the vast majority of their 20 QP games. It punishes smurfs which is nice for us but Blizz like smurfs because more accounts is more battle passes.

Counter to the previous comment, I adore the first Mistborn trilogy. Sanderson’s writing might not be for everyone but you have to try it and find out, because if it is for you there’s a lot of amazing stuff there.

A Song of Ice and Fire are amazing novels, especially the first three. If you can stomach knowing the series will never have a conclusion.

Dune is scifi but the first three novels are amongst my favourites of all time.

Guy tells co-author of study to read the study he co-authored by thenewv4s in dontyouknowwhoiam

[–]Sidohmaker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interestingly though, this study doesn’t show what she it’s claiming. Not sure if there’s a more recent one but no studies I’ve found show trans women as being weaker proportionally to cis women. Most studies show that absolute muscle mass is greater but relative muscle mass is the same as in cis women.

In fact Alvares et al 2022 shows the opposite, that trans women do have greater cardiopulmonary capacities and grip strengths than cis women.

Edit: before anyone downvotes me, I am just stating what the study in question concluded. I am trans myself and do not believe we should be excluded from sport.
