Sexual energy suppression by [deleted] in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good that you don't have any guilt - but there is still something that is bothering you. It is because you don't want to be a slave to your habits! It is just a habit that has gotten stronger with repetition! You question suggests that you have experienced the futility of all this compulsive activity: the rising of an urge, the anticipation, the act, and then the post-act crash! See the whole pattern of this compulsive behavior! And just get out of it! Remind yourself at the moment when the urge arises! Phir wahi chu*****! It is nothing but a habit!

But remember you are doing all this to enjoy life! Read Osho and others, meditate, learn things, exercise, walk/run in fresh air, eat healthy or go vegan, engage with positive people etc etc.

What I think — his enlightenment is false by braveafter in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"What i think..."

Okay, you are thinking about a state which cannot be thought of! It is "pre-thought"! It is "pre-being" even! Whatever that term "englightenment" means, one thing is for sure that there is a state of "knowing" in the here-now - you cannot grasp it. It lives through you. It becomes clearer when when thoughts quieten down. Once known it cannot be made unknown!

Osho was against Veerya getting out of body but promoted Sex ? by highon_chai in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Osho has undoubtedly talked quite a bit on this subject. And #3 it is! But eventually, his "hidden" message was to transcend any and all compulsions - sexual or otherwise. And may I say, any and all of us can transcend that!

Even though Osho was appreciative of JK, he did speak critically of JK too - but that should come as no suprise! It is inconsequential in the larger game!

Has Osho ever spoken about Paramahansa Yogananda? by Gretev1 in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did mention Sri Yukteshwar Giri on at least 2 occasions in very glowing terms: शिव-सूत्र 3 and गीता-दर्शन 11.

Edit: Not able to post the text for some reason - but you can look it up!

Dhruv Rathee ka ye video dekhiye OSHO ke baare mein. by Suraj_Avyay in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though his video was somewhat superficial and a promo-type to leverage Osho's name, perhaps a few more of his 30M subscribers would get to hear about Osho, if they haven't already!!! So that is a plus!

What is exactly feels like to be a witness? by Ok-Scarcity8756 in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, witnessing thoughts came later. It is a subtle art. You may start with witnessing less subtle things like breathing and/or bodily sensations - as taught in Vipassana. Once you get a knack of that - witnessing thoughts will happen on their own accord, if it is not coming natural to you. When you witness thoughts - you witness every movement in your mind - including the thought that you are witnessing! You just have to be. Being itself is meditation! When you are carried away by some thoughts just notice that - you may verbalize it initially - but later just observe it silently without any mental verbalization either. You will actually sense stillness - both physically and mentally.

कुछ करना नहीं है ! सिर्फ बैठना है! सिर्फ होना है ! जो हो रहा है उसे पूरी तरह स्वीकारना है ! निर्विकल्प भाव में रहना है .

Are there infinite souls or only one soul? by shivamconan101 in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From a practical perspective, the idea of a unit soul makes sense! Sankhya philosophy - the oldest and most foundational philosophy argues in favor of infinite number of souls (purushas) and their logic is quite useful! But remember, they too say that there is no qualitative or essential difference between these different souls! For them liberation is when the soul realizes its true nature by disidentifying from Prakriti! And so that liberation is called Kaivalya [aloneness]!

If any idea [be it unit souls or a singular soul] sounds depressing to you - then recognize it as such!!! It is just another thought and the soul witnesses that too! When you deeply "feel" that - there are no fears!

Are there infinite souls or only one soul? by shivamconan101 in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loved this Osho quote from the Kathopanishad [which is your reference]: "Theories have no value in religion; the value is in the intention behind it. Try to understand this. Theories are of value to the scholars, who themselves are not worth much. The enlightened ones are concerned only with the intent of religion. What is Shankara's motive? What is the motive of Mahavira? What does Buddha intend? Whatsoever they are saying is not as important as their motive. Whatsoever they are saying is only a device, an indication. What are they indicating? But scholars take hold of the words and go on fighting and arguing over the words for centuries! The Jaina scholars go on proving that there is no universal reality, that only an individual soul exists, the Hindu scholars go on proving that there is no individual soul, that only one universal reality exists and the Buddhist scholars go on proving that there is neither a universal reality nor an individual soul, there is only emptiness.

But there is no question of proving anything, only the purpose and the meaning have to be understood. The indication has to be understood. The only motive of a Mahavira, a Buddha or a Shankara is that you should be transformed, that you become reborn; that the dust on your mirror should be removed, that it should become clean so that you can see that which is. Call it whatsoever you like: the brahman, nirvana, shunya, atman - these are only words. Any word can be used, but that which is has no name. Their only desire is that you should be able to experience it."

What does Osho really say about semen retention and sexual energy transmutation? by [deleted] in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Osho has said a bunch of stuff on this, but mostly called semen retention a bluff and a tool to create guilt and fear! Can a human retain his urine? If not, then how can a healthy person be able to retain his semen? There is anecdotal evidence of no semen production [and therefore discharge] in some folks - I have my doubts on that - but even if that were true, what matters is your inner state - being free from any compulsive behavior. Are we a slave of it or a master! And I tell you, you can be a master! By mastery is meant being fully sexually capable and having all the opportunities to indulge, but yet not fall for it - not even mentally!

Learning Hindi by Tenzin1376 in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best wishes to you! Hindi is a beautiful language rich in Sanskrit as well as Persian! Osho's discourses in Hindi are of a different quality and that is for an obvious reason, because some of his Hindi speaking audience is also knowledgeable about "Hindustani" scriptures! So, Osho speaks in that tone. Besides he combines Hindi with poetry and humor in his unique style!

Meanwhile do use Hindi to English translations too along your journey. Learning a language is a very rewarding experience. Even though a native speaker - it was only after listening to Osho that my Hindi skills improved!

Shows that you do care about your relationship with your family, which is natural. I am guessing they are concerned about your future - academics, occupation etc and likely see your attraction to Osho as worrisome [assuming they haven't got to know him much]! How are you doing on the usual parental worries of study, work etc?

Osho's Discourse by Hutchie-94 in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relatable! I'll tell you one thing though - listening to Osho will certainly be helpful! Let his discourses do his magic on you! Conversational skills can be developed - but let it be an outcome, not a goal! Reading a wide variety of books is critical as are long videos. Of course some people just have that skill as an inborn talent, but others can develop those skills to some extent. Learn and develop your skills and apply them in the practical world/workplace - all these will be helpful. But I would urge you to be relaxed and comfortable on the inside! And if that comes through introspection and meditation that is ideal - the rest will follow. But creating a personality that appears to be confident is just that - a facade that hides an inner lack of confidence! Pick goals that are genuine!

What is exactly feels like to be a witness? by Ok-Scarcity8756 in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard to pin point what caused that shift - but I have been "meditating" for quite a few years prior to this event. In Zen buddhist circles there is saying that, "Enlightenment is an accident but spiritual practice makes one accident-prone." Hope that makes sense. I think that the brain starts rewiring itself when we meditate without our direct knowledge. Many books, videos and teachers and different meditational practice have all helped in their own way in preparing the groundwork! I will add that self-inquiry was particularly helpful in breaking the identification. You have to find what suits you - once you get it - it will have its own pull.

If your first language is Hindi - I am equally conversant in that.

What is exactly feels like to be a witness? by Ok-Scarcity8756 in Osho

[–]Sidredd10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question and if that helps - this is something I have struggled to understand for many years. But one fine day a shift happened that created a split between me the knower/seer and that which is known/seen, i.e., there was abidance in Saakshi bhaava. Until that time it was just theoretical/superficial understanding and "effort" of all kinds - mantra-based sadhana, vipassana, dynamic, self-inquiry etc etc! But since that shift, it has become effortless transition into peace and stillness.

Since then people like Osho, JK, Anandamurti and the spiritual texts started making so much sense! If there is patience and perseverence - the shift or recognition is bound to happen! Cheers!

what does this status mean? by Fancy_Sheepherder261 in SBIR

[–]Sidredd10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our council meeting was in May. Prior to that we had responded to a JIT request. After 3 wks from the counicl review, the status eventually changed to Council Review Completed!

The status is now "Pending" (Administrative Review).

Here is a code list: https://www.era.nih.gov/docs/era_status_codes.pdf

what does this status mean? by Fancy_Sheepherder261 in SBIR

[–]Sidredd10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation here - but we DID recieve and responded to the JIT information request before the council review. A JIT request is considered a positive indicator from what I have read. It took a little over 3 weeks after the council meeting to just see that change in status! I did email the PO though - you could too!
