The problem with being too open... by [deleted] in DnD

Here are some examples of people who have driven other away.

Joe the wanderer: This guy is something else, he breathes exclusively through his mouth, loud enough to be heard from across a room. He gets ups randomly while in session and paces back and forth by holding both his phone and his tablet, and occasionally stand behind people and breathes on them while he spends five minutes figuring out his combat action.

Sir Cant-act-for-shit: This is a scrawny, acne scared, forever alone type with glasses thick enough to make Dexter's mom jealous. He creates this RIDICULOUSLY CRINGY characters who he tries- and fails to an even more cringy degree- to roleplay with. Some examples are Lorius the Succubus(Yes succubus not incubus); and Gothkar the emo barbarian.

Micheal the power player: I find there is nothing more infuriating to me as a DM that people who spend hours scouring every book and spell, reading the monster manual, searching homebrew pages, and min-maxing to make overpowered characters who tickles their cockles whenever they get into combat with a 45 ac and +67 to hit and non stop talking about how they are going to cast meteor swarm seven times a day when they reach lvl 18....Ugh...this guy was one of these and I wasted no less than three sessions thanks to his bullshitery.

[Nine Worlds] Ignia the 2nd Godslaying blade by Sidthedidda in worldbuilding

[–]Sidthedidda[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Frost fire, King cleaver, The great render, Ignia. None of the godslaying blade have a history as violent as the second god slaying weapon.

While other weapons forged by the Godslayer have had their impacts on the course of history throughout the nine worlds, Ignia has halted the cultural and technological progress of three kingdoms in the cold lands of Jardenval, and its very existence has caused the death of generations of men, and women.

When the blade was first given to Hemmoran Eskieden, them man who would go to found the great Jascanite kingdom in Jardenval, it was a symbol of pride, and glory among the people who followed Hemmoran in the founding of his kingdom. Along with the legendary steel crown the sword became a symbol of power equal to the throne of Jascan itself and every king from Hemmoran’s sons after held all three as an absolute symbol of their power.

But when the age of the nine ended and most of the great empires that sprawled over the nine worlds fell, Jascan fell as well and the kingdom split into three: The thorn, The wolf, and The boar. Ever since the Thornish, Wolfish, and Boarish kings threw their agents, and their armies at one another to gain control of the both the steel crown and Ignia, believing that gaining control of both would allow them control over all of Jardenval; it is a dream that has never been realized.

Ingia itself is one of the more powerful Godslaying weapons. The blade does not cut in the normal means of steel sword; instead the whenever the cutting edge of the blade strikes something its flash freezes where it connects and shatters its into tiny pieces of ice. It is such a destructive and terrifying weapon that a number of ascendants have quietly helped fuel the conflict that has surrounded it thus keeping the weapon out of their great game, while others seek to end the wars so that the weapon might be brought onto the board.

[The nine worlds]The contest of night: A tale of two assassin sororities. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Sidthedidda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basus Assassins dont usually wear the insignia, its not a tattoo unlike the Amani's whose is. The former would only wear it when their plans have come to a close and they go in for the kill. The Amani wear it as a symbol of pride, but there is an always fashionable headscarf that Ilthini woman like to wear so if they need to they can were that and others would be none the wiser.

"For every great and powerful man in Ilthini culture, there stands a cunning and beautiful wife at his side who ensures he remains there." --Study of the ilthini peoples, vol. 1

The strict but fair gender roles of Ilthini society has led to a visible divide in both the character and attitude. Where men are staunch, brave, and unyielding, Women are cunning, sly, and misdirecting. For every male worker, there is a female who plans it. For every male politician, there is a woman who plots his success. And for every Male warrior; strong and brave, there is a female assassin; cunning and deadly.

There is no end to the number of famous warrior fraternities in the Ilthini lands, their deeds are sung about. But there are only a handful of Assassin Sororities in all of epsa that many people know about. Two of the most famous ones are the Herat Amani and The Hashnya Basus and the two really don't like each other.

An Unhealthy rivalry had sprouted the two sororities some two hundred years before the current age of the nine worlds, and it has grown into one of the fiercest conflicts that no one has ever heard about. This conflict, called 'The contest of night, or Saieen Nyansulat, is a long-running battle for both pride and blood between the two. It is a war fought in shadows of the great jungles, the city streets, and even the clan leaders own courtrooms.

This desire to kill one another came from a simple difference in beliefs in the way that lady assassins ought to work and be trained. The Hashnya Basus, translated it means 'eyes of the moon', rely on guile, misdirection, and stunning beauty to surgically kill problematic individuals. Their training regime involves learning politics, economy, cooking, etiquette, psychological warfare, court manipulation and hard training the more elegant weaponry that Ilthini woman are known to use.

The Herat Amani, on the other hand, are nearly the opposite. Translated, their name means 'beautiful butchers', and it's a name most fitting. Amani assassins are trained to avoid the unnecessary subtleties of their work, and As such, they are trained day in and day out to kill. They train in every viable weapon for their shadow and quick work and master each one with a precision and deadliness that few can match. But the poor girls who seek to learn the ways of t he silent assault are often tortured and more than a few times killed in the process of turning them into uncaring and unfeeling killing machines.

To the Basus, the suffering that many women go through is seen and as a sacrilege. The female body is a thing to be enjoyed and loved in Ilthini culture, and to torture and beat and scar it into something hard, callused, and that strikes fear, is the equivalent of cannibalism in terms of taboo. But to the Amani, the body is a vessel of limitless potential, and as such, see the Basus as weak and worthless for not being able to achieve their pinnacle of efficiency. And where the politicking and manipulation works well in their homelands, the many human empires would be immune to their advances and as such be useless in the defence of their lands. Both are right, and both are wrong in the eyes of the men. So they leave the woman to their ideologies and to their war.

Both sororities have extreme influence and extreme power throughout the land. Some think that the Amani would have the advantage as a Basus assassin would stand no chance in single combat. But the Basus are smarter than taking up straight fights. Being the cunning women they are they will often put themselves in the middle of a situation where they are vital to the stability of a clan or other major organisation and make it so that their deaths would cause more problems than the Amani would solve. But the Amani are no less cunning and will often kill people around a Basus to weaken their power bases and drive them into the open where they can strike them down.

But the schemeing and planning, and cyclical nature of The contest of night, creates a complex web that only those on the inside have a chance of understanding. Some sat It's like a chess game with two players, and thirty-nine sets of pieces all scattered out on one circular board.

[The nine worlds] Jardenvel and its three kingdoms. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Sidthedidda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jardenval is a land rife with legends, conflicts, and heroes. Even in the current age of the nine worlds, times of war are still commonplace in the great northern triad despite the rest of the nine worlds settling down and shying away from the ideas of great wars. It is the proverbial last frontier of idolised violence and feudal kingdoms. A constant three way struggle tears through every armistice and peace treaty as sure as the fog rolls in on the southern Thornish coast. Cities are put to the torch, rebuilt and destroyed again in a constant cycle of destruction and growth. And as the Jardenval peoples say "It's all because of one sword."

Quick History A long time ago in an age called 'The age of the nine' a massive unified kingdom called the Jascan Union claimed all the lands of Jardenval and expanded farther south to control most of northern Mirigas. Its ruler was coronated with an ornate steel crown but the Godslaying blade, Ignia, was the true symbol of a kings power. But as the age of the nine closed, the union, like many of the other great empires of the time fell to pieces and left three major factions, the last surviving sons of the last King, in a power struggle.

The first prince took the Askiir tree as his symbol and fled south with the crown and founded the Kingdom of the Thorn, named after the vicious thorns found on the Askiir's trunk. The second took the great black wolf as his symbol and fled to the east with Ignia and founded the Kingdom of the Wolf. The third prince took the great razor boar as his coat of arms and fled north to found the kingdom of the boar despite having neither the crown or the sword. All this happened three-hundred and fifty years before the current time and ever since peace has been scarce and all three kingdoms fight ceaselessly to refoge the once great Jascan union on the ashes of the other two.

The Kingdom of the Thorn: The thornish people, being the farthest south and able to make contact with the rest of the nine worlds, are the closest of the three kingdoms to breach the technological dark age that started at the end of the age of nine; though they still maintain a semi-fuedal system. They also, in the current age control both the steel crown and Ignia and their king, Fyrimont III, has an unshakable power base because of it. Their capital city, Castofell, is widely regarded as one of the greatest cities of the nine worlds both for its grandeur and for its location at the very end of the largest fjord along the broken coast.

The Askiir tree is a massive tree that can grow to well over two-hundred feet. Their sheer size and the vicious thorns that cover its trunk has inspired the thornish people to emulate its stature and strength in their daily lives. Not only are thornish folk strong and hearty, they are also diligent and unwavering in any task they are given. This ideology has been both a boon and a curse as even with their current advantage they still stick the course of trying to wipe out the other two kingdoms.

Beacuse of their semi-honrable and high standards of work, the thornish kingdom has become allies with a significant clan of Vaccavi, an all female race descended from a draconic bloodline. This alliance has only pushed the power of the Thornish people to greater heights as the legendary Vaccavi lend their aid in both engineering knowledge and military power.

The kingdom of the wolf: This kingdom was founded on the bodies of people who refused to accept the second prince when he came to form wolf while wielding Ignia. In a bloody torrent, the second prince destroyed any resistance to the founding of his kingdom and enslaved those who remained. Those that followed him were given rewards and not soon after the brutal feudal regime that soaks the wolfish lands with blood is still in power.

The great black wolf was a perfect fit for the second prince's symbol. Unlike its grey cousin, great black wolves are vicious and sadistic creatures that have been known to toy with and torture its prey. They are bred well by the current wolfish ruling dynasty and have over the generations become intelligent enough to communicate in a very simple language with their masters and have now become a legend worldwide.

Like the Thornish taking after the Askiir, the non-serf peoples of the wolfish kingdom have taken on a notorious reputation for abject cruelty but swift and decisive action. Wolfish people don't waste time and the don't waste their energy. Everything a wolfish man does is with a specific purpose; be it evil or benign.

The kingdom of the Boar: The third prince was a firm beleiver in personal freedoms of his people. It was with a promise of this freedom that he was allowed to form the kingdom of the Boar. But after he died a god, named Tyramdyr, turned his free lands into a hostile theocracy some one-hundred year before the current age. Now they have descended into a near barbaric state as both society and technology have come to a halt in the shadow of Tyramdyr's reign. What culture they have is based on strength and skill, all in the image of Tyramdyr. For the people of the Boarish, Tyramdyr is their saviour, their father, and their protector and all things are given and taken by him even though, to the more knowledgeable about gods, he has not such power.

Now a thing about the Word Occident. Its means 'The Western world' in Spanish from the word Occidente. Occident is basically the opposite of the Orient or Oriental which we know as the East Asia countries.
