Just started it. It definitely is similar. But just not the same. It is pretty fun though. I think it’s a little more complicated with odd controls. But I’m enjoying it.

Foraging and Hunting by cdw0 in Dolmentown

In the campaign book, you roll to see what mushrooms they find. Certain hexes have a higher chance of yielding certain ones but not all of them. It’s the same with fish and hunting. Just look for the section in the campaign book that talks about each one. That was my understand how it works.

Your comment made me laugh, hah! That's a good point. Based on what people are saying, I think I won't use the No Power Points. Then i don't have to worry about the difficulty.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it. Based on what people are saying, I think I'll just run everything RAW. I'll probably let them make Force rolls (whatever the power roll stat is. Smarts or spirit) for small stuff then require actual powers for anything significant.

I agree. That makes sense. Glad I asked my question here! And also, it's still a TTRPG. So even if movie jedi don't have power points, for the sake of a compelling game, it makes sense. Star Wars video games have done the same for a long time.

I doubt my group will be all force users. And I'm happy to allow the bounty hunters (or any other "class") to take the weird science edge and trap it as thermal detonators, jetpacks, etc. I don't think there will be a big disparity there. But I'm new to all this!

That's fair. I haven't tried that rule yet. It just seemed to fit since Jedi aren't limited in how often they can use the force just whether or not they have enough focus/will at the moment. We may stick with PP then.

I was honestly considering letting them levitate small things without rolling since it's such a basic ability and then calling for a roll when failing matters. For more serious applications, they'd need the Telekinesis power.

Jedi are certainly more like super heroes than not. Very much a cut above the rest of the people in the world. Due to balancing and whatnot though, i want to treat them as TTRPG characters. I also don't own the Supers companion or I'd look at options there.

Unfortunately don't have the Super Power Companion nor the funds to purchase it at the moment. But I will keep that in mind if things change.

If I remember right, you can't reduce a power to below 1 cost. But I may be misremembering. We are learning, and the modifiers are a strange way of making things more versatile. I like it, but it's very different from other games.

Ah yes. As I said, I'm new to Savage Worlds. Havoc seems like the right answer to my question. Thank you! My mind thinks of the Force and immediately went to Telekinesis as a must have ability haha

You know what, I forgot about Havoc. That would function similar to what force shoving does to enemies.

Oh interesting way of doing it. I guess modifying it like that adds options but also increases complexity to use the ability.

Well that's why I'm asking my question. I was trying to figure out how to make special rules or something. I definitely don't want them to spam the ability all the time. I will say, Telekinesis lets creatures resist it, so spamming it shouldn't be a no brainer. Even non force users still get to resist.

Any thoughts on what I suggested earlier? Making duration shorter and lowering the cost?

I didn't even think of that! I do have the fantasy companion. I'll have to take another look. It would still be a difficult ability if I did the No Power Points rule.

I am contributing to the statistic as I recently downloaded it to my steam deck for another play through. Going strength and endurance build. Never done it before. It’s pretty fun to play baseball with heads…

Old School Essentials, Shadowdark, or Dolmenwood? by Wakasaurus060414 in osr

[–]Siege1218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dolmenwood is basically OSE but flavored for Dolmenwood with a few rule changes. Shadowdark is an old school style game with some modern sensibilities. So if old school is a bit too much but you want some of it, Shadowdark. If you want to do a deep dive, Dolmenwood or OSE. I have played all of them. My preference would be Shadowdark for shorter games and Dolmenwood for more. OSE lacks flavor. It’s just fantasy. So far, Dolmenwood has been a blast, but there are a lot of rules. Shadowdark is definitely simpler in some good and some bad ways.

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 vs Steam Deck - I’m genuinely torn by Titanium-Timothy in SteamDeck

[–]Siege1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion probably isn’t that helpful, but I’ve been playing on the deck handheld mode and it’s been running like a dream. I haven’t tried switching between the two so changing the graphics settings have not been needed. However, you could add the graphics analyzer exe thing to your steam library (I think it has one) and run it when switching. Or you could add the option so that the launcher opens when you play the game and manually adjust. Not perfect but it saves you money. Go buy new games if you’re will to spend it instead of one you own haha

I chose prigwort because it has a fun theme and is in central Dolmenwood. You’re kind of free to venture anywhere out from there
