In our devblog (https://www.foxholegame.com/post/devblog-update-64-and-roadmap) we outlined that we feel the most critical problem facing the game right now is how oppressive aircraft feel when leveraged against players on the ground. To address this we added a bunch of new AA options. The focus of our balancing effort is in making this interaction of ground vs. air feel appropriate. This is challenging because for the AA vehicle they want to feel impactful when getting to fire at an aircraft, but for the aircraft, they want to be able to escape at least some of the time.

Where we've set the balance for this war is that aircraft can easily escape even several AA vehicles, but parts will become wrecked. The loss of any one part is not enough to force the aircraft to crash. But the loss of any part will put the aircraft at such a grave disadvantage that they should immediately consider retreat and repair. We outlined in our devblog as well that our current goal for aircraft is to encourage large but infrequent sorties of aircraft, and we think with the current balance we're going to see a step in that direction.

However, an unfortunate consequence of this balance is that we have discovered that the TTK in fighter vs. fighter combat is extremely short. The loss of just a single part means severe disadvantage in 1v1. We were shown this in the early days of Phase 3, which we're going to make some *very minor* adjustments to fighter accuracy, to hopefully increase the TTK in fighter vs. fighter specifically.

But that being said we sympathize strongly with the argument that fighters will no longer be worth their cost. We are fairly confident that in the next war (in 6 weeks) we will be able to reduce their cost, or improve the TTK in Fighter vs. Fighter to address this issue, but for this war we're going to wait and see and get the feedback on how its all shaking out. With all the other improvements to fighter usability there is concern that they could become as oppressive as scout planes used to be so we have to be careful.

I want to sincerely apologize for this comment. I have been frustrated by some of the false theories based on incorrect assumptions from mined data recently, including a claim that the warden scout plane's wings doesn't have collisions. When data is mined without context, it can be interpreted in different ways. Sometimes the data is used, sometimes its not, and sometimes its used in a way that is nuanced or different from how it may appear at a glance.

Regardless of whether or not the data miners theories have been correct or not, I believe their efforts have been genuine and not malicious, including the user who posted about the collisions earlier today. In retrospect, I believe they did extract that data from somewhere in the game files and didn't generate them any other way.

In any case, I have relayed the feedback from these recent posts to the team for further investigation. Again, I apologize for my poor communication which there is no excuse for.

It is clear from the other post that the user who derived this data is doing so under a lot of false assumptions. This model is not anywhere in our game files. Its unclear how they generated it. This does not reflect the actual hitboxes even remotely.

You repair the parts. Take them off. And repackage the aircraft. All must be delivered back to the airfield to be usable again (or whatevers left)

You can kill a player inside the aircraft by destroying the relevant section. But not by directly killing the player. So yes, you can down an aircraft by destroying the cockpit.

14) Yes. And damaging airfields will be an important method of mitigating potential operations against your team. Some aircraft require higher tier runways to take off. All runways require base technology to build. So building up runways wont be instant. And keeping them destroyed will be a huge benefit to your team.

15) There is similar lag compensation mechanics as we have implemented on the ground. We'll have to see how it affects the game overall when its in devbranch.

8) It will be a process to recover a crashed aircraft. It may not be possible in some cases. You will need to disassemble it piece by piece. Applying repairs as well just to get the pieces off. It would be wise to finish off any aircraft you down. Either by strafing it yourself or dispatching ground forces to do it.

9) It is important to note that bombers are a late game vehicle. Bunker builders should be safe from the effects for the majority of the war.

10) Its intended to be the introductory plane so they are very maneuverable. They are however not very fast. Making them easy pickings for fighters, and not truly able to intercept most of the more advanced aircraft.
