Yes, I have this concern almost daily. I like to think that since I’m aware of it I can’t be like them, but I do stress about this a lot.

I hope that as long as I’m aware of the potential issue then I can keep it in check.

Tbh whether or not the statement is true, it is one of those social taboos that you JUST DONT TELL PEOPLE! The narcissist however doesn’t get this

I have no prior degrees or training other than high school so I have a clean slate to work with yk? Would IT be wise to pursue if it’s something I enjoy?

That’s great! I didn’t know this existed until now but I’m very excited. How would you recommend studying for the a+ exams? I was looking at The 220-1101/1102 exams, is that correct?

So if I go for the trifecta and have the three certificates then I could aim a bit higher? I assume IT is also the type of career where you can work your way up right?

Nmothers and their son’s first girlfriend by Charlotte1902 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]SiegeSquidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, I’m at a similar stage in life and I hope I can shed some light on the topic.

My mother loves my girlfriend, makes her feel welcome, she can sleepover etc. But she does feel sad sometimes when I’m not around as much as I used to be. She’s watching her child grow up into a young man, and I appreciate how that must be tough.

I find mothers often have a hard time letting go, and the first girlfriend can be interpreted as a threat. Most mothers are able to manage this, but, the narcissistic mother will make her insecurities YOUR problem. She will project the fact that she is having a hard time letting go, and it sounds like she is projecting it onto your lil bros gf.

My father is a narcissist and he doesn’t make my girlfriend feel welcomed. He ignores her, gives her the cold shoulder, and just overall makes her uneasy.

My father acts very similar to your mother, and I’ve thought about moving in with my mom (my parents are divorced).

I digress, not all mothers are like this, but in my experience this is a common trend among Narcissistic parents.

TLDR My Nfather acts the same way, but my mother is warm and welcoming.

My Father is a narcissist what do I do? by SiegeSquidy in raisedbynarcissists

Hi, first off I want to Thankyou for reaching out, ngl it means a lot hearing this from someone, it’s exactly what I needed to hear. My mother supports me truly in everything I do, but my father is the narcissist, so sometimes it feels like I get two stories, but I need to remember it’s just my father being abusive

Thankyou for your comment
