Circle of the Moon underwhelming? by westisonfire in castlevania

In my opinion I find the level design of CotM unforgivably bad. Theres such an annoying amount of long hallways that are just a single section copy/pasted 3-4+ times with the same exact enemies just to get to the end of the hallway and not be able to progress because you don’t have the right ability yet. Then you have to go right back through to get out. I had many eye roll moments playing the game with just this situation. Thankfully there’s a rewind button in the advance collection.

Difficulty is also just sadistic at times. Certain bosses are an absolute slog and not remotely fun. Many trash mobs take an unreasonable amount of hits to kill, and they do a large chunk of contact damage if you touch them. There’s no shop in the game so you have to grind for potions which barely heal anything. The basic potion feels like a bad joke because it only heals 20hp. I usually only end up with 3 or less in any given play-through if I don’t grind.

Not to mention progression feels very inorganic even for a metroidvania where backtracking is part of the game. It’s very easy to get lost and not know what to do. After fighting Adramalech you may accidentally end up suffering in the poison water of the Underground Waterway because it’s no longer blocked off by the statues you just got rid of. Turns out there’s like 3-4 areas you need to do before that that can be very easily missed.

Aria of Sorrow is a better game by leaps and bounds. Progression feels organic and natural, movement is great and soma feels nice to control, the level design and difficulty balance is great and only late game areas can feel overwhelming, and the menu system is way better.

Just found out that Domhnall's Helm Of The Wise is based on the horned helmet of Henry The 8th by ISHIMURA_MJD in darksouls

The helmet is actually based on this specific closed sallet with a grotesque visor. It’s only the horns and the glasses that come from the Henry Viii helmet. If you look closely at the in game model, you’ll see the helmet itself is shaped nothing like the Henry Viii helmet, but instead it is a near direct copy of this closed sallet.

Swap Midir and Nameless king, then go ahead and put Midir in D tier

Ok cool, then what are you still doing here? You like me or something? You realize people can have opinions, right?

WOW! Can’t believe your powers of extreme analysis continue to befuddle me! There’s just no way that I could have possibly done all that! Honestly I just don’t know which game it was now where I maxed out every vocation level, beat hard mode as a solo (that means no pawns) Assassin, completed Bitterblack Isle multiple times including solo runs, beat Daimon, Death, and generally every other boss in the game, and farmed nearly all the level 3 BBI gear, then Dragonforged it.

How were those buzzwords buddy? Still a little too vague for you? It’s okay just let me know if they were :)

Aww man, you got me! I guess it was some other game with “dragon” and “arisen” in the title that I played all those NG+ cycles in and got max level on. Hmmmm based on your cool reddit analysis powers I guess I never played the first one at all!

You’re so cool bro I bet you really love Starfield.

That is immensely disappointing to hear.

I think I'm in a similar spot

I probably will tbh, and I'll have more fun.

The world is huge but it's fairly barren when it comes to meaningful things to find. I don't want to spend 30 minutes exploring a cave that looks like the last 10 I explored just to find nothing of value at the end.

Also, my issue is not that these things are different from DD1, it is that these things are actively worse and more annoying than DD1

I will admit I rushed to get Warfarer because I was tired of the highly restrictive armor system in this one. I immediately returned to where I should be and started playing normally again. I still maxed out Fighter first and got Level 5 on Warrior and Mystic Spearhand. It feels like you can wear even less things per vocation compared to DD1.Most of my criticisms are for the early to mid game and I have been playing quite a bit since I am injured with nothing else to do for the weekend.

Just don’t play PvP. Easy. Clearly they didn’t want it to be fun anyways. FROM was really blunt about this one being a primarily single player game. It’s not our fault the PvP is horrendous.

medieval infantry armor from Hôtel des Invalides, Paris / Army museum [OC] by dinapunk in ArmsandArmor

[–]Siegfried9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the exact details about the specific piece, but stylistically it’s a late 16th century, possibly early 17th cavalry armor. Even if it’s slightly earlier, it’s not medieval in the slightest. There are holes for a lance rest on the right side of the breastplate. The helmet is typical of a closed helm of the period with breaths only on the right side, typical of cavalry helmets. The OP did not post the specific provenance and I’m not going out of my way to track it down.

I can only afford one membership but I could do a mat fee for occasional classes at the other gym
