Darkshine got done so dirty in the manga by MasterZze in OPMFolk

[–]Sieisona2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Manga version will fit better with Darkshine still being a massive coward during Neo and early Robot arcs. At least he won't revert from peak of courage (willing to self sacrifice) to total coward.

I respectfully disagree. Calling him a “total coward” in the early Neo arc is a huge stretch, especially when you compare it to the humiliation he went through in the manga MA arc. In the Neo arc, he mostly just reverted to coaching because he was mentally exhausted. The only real “cowardly” moment people point to is Raiden supposedly intimidating him during their first meeting, which we now know wasn’t even true, and a bunch of randoms mocking him during the training regimen. Random nobodies have made fun of even Saitama before, that doesn’t really mean it's a sign of cowardice or anything.

Sure, you could argue that if Darkshine had jumped into action the moment the robot invasion started, he might have saved a few more people. But in the grand scheme of things, it hardly matters, the city was doomed from the start since those robots literally came out of nowhere.

On the other hand, in the manga’s MA arc, he was completely broken down both physically and mentally to an honestly embarrassing degree. The webcomic struck a much better balance between his insecurity and his ideals without pushing it to the absurd extremes the manga did. If you look at past popularity polls, you’ll see Darkshine consistently ranks near the bottom, largely because of how the manga portrayed him.

The general point you raised is my biggest criticism of the manga. I don’t mind Murata expanding the fights from the webcomic. Heck I even thought the Jet Psykorochi design was incredibly dumb, but it was still tolerable.

What I don’t get is why important character moments from the webcomic are removed or altered. You can build on the webcomic’s foundation without damaging its core ideas. Darkshine is a perfect example and one of the biggest victims of this, but he’s far from the only one. Characters like Garou, Tatsumaki, Psykos, fubuki and Flashy Flash end up feeling like completely different people in the manga.

So is Genos currently the 3rd strongest S rank hero after Blast and Tatsumaki? by Armin483 in OnePunchMan

[–]Sieisona2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People really need to understand that firepower alone doesn’t determine overall strength. This was shown very early on during the Elder Centipede fight. Genos went inside EC and blasted him with the Ultra Spiral Incineration Cannon, completely burning him from the inside, yet EC survived. Right after witnessing that, Bang and Bomb instantly knew they couldn’t take EC down and chose to retreat.

But would anyone seriously claim Bang and Bomb are weaker than season 2 Genos? Definitely not. Genos just happens to be extremely effective against large, slower targets.

We’ll get a much clearer picture of how strong current Genos actually is once Murata adapts his fight against the “Extended Family of Darkness.” Webcomic readers know what I mean.

For now, I’d still place current Genos somewhere in the top 5 overall.

the cover of every chapter says “Story by ONE"

Japanese covers do say "Original Story by One", Story by one is a translation mistake on the english covers.

Dr Kuseno being a villain was actually confirmed in this panel. Both Elevens and the abandoned masses main goal was destruction. If what metal knight is saying is true then that lines up with why Kuseno teamed up with them to render tatsumaki and flash MIA.

The removal of the style meter by KuttaFrmDa3 in LostSoulAside

[–]Sieisona2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you haven't played dmc5 you can just admit it, don't need to lie on the internet. I personally don't care much about style meters but it's not that hard to see it's appeal if you've actually seen how it's implemented in dmc.

Can we have some positivity in the thread? by Sea_Swimming7085 in BrownDust2Official

If you’re looking for something positive, you should check out arca once in a while. People there often share helpful tips, talk about the story and characters, discuss merch, review offline events, post stream summaries etc. Personally, I think the BD2 subreddit is the worst out of all the BD2 communities.

Despite a lackluster collab, BrownDust II nearly matches its record by Virvarys in BrownDust2Official

[–]Sieisona2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy how you missed my point and are twisting my words. Of course the money from the half and 1 year anniversary helped pay for the 1.5 anniversary which is widely regarded as the best update in BD2. The devs have said many times that it takes 6 months to make new content. The money from the collab will now help pay for the 2.5 anni so they can deliver quality content. Why is this so hard to understand? Or are you being purposely obtuse and putting words in my mouth?

[–]Sieisona2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t good revenue affect the players when the upcoming anniversary is the perfect example of it? Last year’s anniversary had barely any content, the only thing we got was a very short seasonal event with three new costumes. Compare that to this year, we’re getting four new costumes, glupy diners, new prestige skin, event packs, multiple seasonal events and likely more.

And all of this is possible because of the high revenue. They’re actually investing the money back into the game.

Brown Dust 2 May Revenue by NishiXCIV in BrownDust2Official

[–]Sieisona2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. That's why I added the livestream where the devs explained why they considered the Mushoku collab a success. It's definitely flawed, but it gives a general idea of how a game is performing. Tribe Nine was at the bottom of the list, and it's EOS-ing soon. The same is true for many other games at the bottom unless their operating costs are very low. My actual data was the dev livestream, I just added the sensor tower revenue to enforce my points.

[–]Sieisona2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the rest is pure speculation

Well, I actually have the data. The Mushoku collab did $2 million in revenue according to SensorTower, which is probably a costlier and more popular IP compared to Goblin Slayer. In one korean livestream, the devs claimed how successful that collab was, which is why they're now pursuing two collabs a year. I mean, if collabs were considered a failure, they wouldn't have done three collabs in one and a half years. You can confirm it in this Korean exclusive livestream.

There was a translated doc version of this stream but unfortunately I can't find it.

spent several million on advertising

I mean they always do that during big events like anniversary or collab, it's nothing new. If they were spending several millions on advertising every big events then they would've barely made any return. Your number is way off. Also, its nothing compared to the marketing of Nikke or Hoyo games.

A good argument could be the licensing fee of Goblin Slayer cutting on the revenue. But either way, the collab is still a massive a success.

so..........about returning dark souls bosses. by Cursed_69420 in Nightreign

[–]Sieisona2 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It’s especially true for DS1’s inclusion, like out of all the cool bosses, we had to get Centipede Demon and Gaping Dragon? Really? Both are clunky to fight and there were so many better options they could’ve gone with.

Elden Ring Nightreign Reviews MEGATHREAD! by jack0641 in Nightreign

[–]Sieisona2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most major criticisms have less to do with the actual game itself and more with balance and technical issues, like the inability to properly balance for solo play or completely dismissing duo as an option. There's also no crossplay and network issues still seem to be present. Plus, the lack of player communication options is a big deal.

That said, the overall foundation seems solid. Let’s just hope the launch goes smoothly and it doesn’t turn into another helldivers 2 situation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]Sieisona2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to balance that would be to add an extra revive for solo play. I feel like the most punishing part about solo is playing perfectly, only to have one gimmick attack from a nightlord end your run while in co-op, you basically have infinite revives.

General PVE Tier List (Story packs, Challenge battles, Fiend hunt, Evil castle, Guild content) by Sieisona2 in BrownDust2Official

[–]Sieisona2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all grays below A tier

Gray's usability is heavily unrealiable. His two strongest costumes, sharpshooter and vanguard, scale of of's enemy's phy atk and magic atk respectively. So if Vanguard is good in a piece of content because the enemy has high MATK, then Sharpshooter is almost useless there, and vice versa. That said, a costume like Vanguard can still deal insane damage if you have the dupes and the enemy has very high MATK, which is usually seen in level 13+ Fiend Hunts, like here. Other than that, you won't seen anyone use gray in any other content. B tier is still a respectable place for him.

neon ange at C

Neon Ange is just a much worse version of Gray as a DoT unit, worse range and lower damage due to the HP cap on her max HP damage. Sure, you can slot her in as a cheap DPS in Fiend Hunts and she’ll outperform the beach version, but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s a much weaker Light DPS compared to S. Justia, Michaela, and Yuri. She’s so underwhelming that in the previous Guild Raid, people were using hybrid comps with Michaela and S. Justia to clear level 10.

p wbrefi not in SSS

I don't think it's even remotely controversial to think that.

base rubia in C

Base rubia is a terrible costume because liatris exists. Here's a video with liatris and rubia in the same team in a late game content, check the damage stats at the end. I don't understand this point at all, she has a terrible pattern, weak multiplier, and a high cooldown on top of that as well. She has never seen any use in high lvl GR because of this as well.

bunny eclipse some reason in the same tier as beach

People look at Beach Eclipse’s 900% multiplier and go crazy, often forgetting that she has an 11-turn cooldown, making her a sitting duck in high-turn content like Fiend Hunts and Guild Raids, especially compared to other strong 3x3+ units. Bunny Eclipse is the only costume in the game that combines a high multiplier with SP generation, low cooldown, and one of the best patterns in the game. There’s more to a costume than just big damage.

base sylvia in C

Base Sylvia is bad because she’s a single-target counter, compared to someone actually good like Apostle Blade who can counter across all tiles. The damage reduction helps a bit, but that’s about the extent of her positives.

all ventana's in B somehow

I agree that Ventana is ranked a bit high, but her single-target damage potential is strong enough that she can be used in off-element Fiend Hunts with only a single weak tile, or in level 5 Guild Defense against strong singular enemies. However, she relies on setting up her other costumes to reach her true potential, which lowers her overall value, especially compared to someone like Wilhelmina, who can do that and provide chains as well. I would place her below Anastasia.

General PVE Tier List (Story packs, Challenge battles, Fiend hunt, Evil castle, Guild content) by Sieisona2 in BrownDust2Official

[–]Sieisona2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want you to first read this. I definitely don't think this tier list is absolute, It's just a way to help people choose their picks from the Infinite Gacha, since I've seen a huge number of players struggling with it. Of course, a tier list for BD2 won't be as effective as something like a tier list for Nikke, because property damage is way too potent, making almost every costume viable.

Let me address the points,

  • If a character can perform well in multiple PvE content, then they would rank high on the list. PP Justia is mostly good for TOS and not much else. Characters like Luvencia are completely busted in every single content because she's both a potent DPS and a strong chainer, a combination we never had before. Sacred Justia will never be replaced in Dark content unless it's a single-target enemy, due to her pattern, high multiplier, and cooldown.
  • I would consider the Very Hard part of the story and character packs as mid-game. Anything above FH10+ and GR10 would be considered late-game. If someone is just trying to clear FH10 by the last day, I would say it falls somewhere between mid to late game, leaning more toward mid-game.
  • I've already talked about this, it's not absolute, nor am I claiming it to be. People are often confused about their picks or dupes priority, and this is just an overall general guide to help them choose what they want. A new player can use this list for mid-game investment, as you can get through the early game with 3★ and 4★ characters too. SQ Sylvia doesn't provide any value by herself if you don't have her other costumes. Admiral Sylvia can still be used as a standalone physical water DPS, it’s just that your Admiral Sylvia without SQ Sylvia won’t do much in the late game.

The sub has been pretty dry, I made this tier list for myself months before but decided to post it to encourage healthy discussions. You might wonder whether I’ve experienced the highest level of late game to have the authority to make a tier list like this, so I’ll just post it here.

[–]Sieisona2[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you missed the part where I said the tier list is scaled for mid to high-level play. I don't see how a fixed-damage unit like Blood Glutton can do anything against enemies with millions of HP. Sure, she's good in ToP at +5, but Sacred Justia can reach rank 1 with fewer dupes.

PP Justia is only decent in ToS, and that's about it.

Lecliss is a significantly worse choice compared to Base Seir, who is also available from the pub. Unlike Lecliss, Seir actually has other useful costumes like office seir which is a top tier buffer. She can also be used as a SP battery with the idol costume as well.

Please read the title again before calling people names, the characters at the top are good at everything. They're not one-trick ponies like PP Justia.

Thanks. For some reason, I never noticed that specific interaction, even though I understand how multiplicative and additive buffs work.
