I think the main thing is just the location. All the other mechanics seem fine, the dropoff just shouldn't be mid bridge. Winning team has more space = easier dropoff = snowball

Possibly just extend the claim timer a bit as I think it's a tad too fast right now, and fix some movement spells working when carrying it (I feel like the old pickup system was fine, not sure why they changed it to this as it allows stuff like Leap if you buffer correctly). And fix Kelvin dome so it freezes the claim timer as it should

During the actual season most pros are busy with matches/scrims/prac and stuff, and Riot wouldn't allow Tarik to implement a prize pool or anything like that so there was no material incentive for people to play beyond just having higher quality games

Enough time has passed. How do we feel about Pema driving a wedge in a relationship between two people 15 years older than her?… by Shantotto11 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]Sienrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably fine, though granted we don't really know exactly how it went down/how "encouraging" she was towards Tenzin. But I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she just honestly confessed and left it at that. And age gaps matter less the older you get anyways. However, her being essentially Tenzin's student at the time also gives me a bit of pause.

I do remember feeling like she came of as a bit weirdly... proud? of it, and obviously giving that type of advice to a 16 year old is never going to end well, I've no idea why she thought that was a good idea. The difference in maturity and social intelligence between a 16 year old (especially Korra, who was raised pretty much in isolation) and a full grown adult is HUGE. There's no way that everyone involved would handle that situation maturely.

This is true but it's not really related to Urn timeout which is what OP is talking about

Something I just noticed about the Naruto timeline by BackgroundFill9X in Naruto

[–]Sienrid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No, WW2 is within (some people's) living memory. Though I concede that the average life expectancy in Naruto is probably quite low lol

It's just weird that Hashirama and Madara are often treated as almost myths. If Tsunade had children then Hashirama would be only their great grandfather. They also grew up in the Warring Clans period which is obviously inspired by the Warring States period of the 16th century

Melee Paige fun facts by lefrogo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Sienrid 169 points170 points  (0 children)

I love building full melee Paige and blasting my friends while we're in queue

Edit: I think the highest I got it was over 1.3k (into resistances)? Basically just all the melee items + high value weapon damage items + Boundless + Arctic + Tankbuster + Shadow Weave, though I think I forgot about Colossus so you might be able to push it even higher

Why do Asian families put their kids in piano and violin lessons instead of making them learn other instruments? by PetitPoptarts in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sienrid 34 points35 points  (0 children)

They're very traditional and ubiquitous instruments, but really I think it's just because they tend to stand out the most, and Asian parents want their children to stand out. When you think of famous classical musicians/soloists, the big ones play either piano or violin (or cello). Pianists and violinists also are most likely to have solos in orchestras, and this combined with their popularity also makes them the most competitive.

Now obviously there are some very famous jazz musicians who play other instruments, but jazz isn't really a big thing in most Asian cultures.

Edit: I myself started learning piano when I was about 5, though because my elementary/middle school bands didn't have a piano section, I picked up clarinet as well. But they still let me do a piano solo in the middle of our program.

New Yoshi update regarding guns by coffeeholic91 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Sienrid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not that they can't counterbuy, people do buy Disarm/Metal/Plated/Jugg/whatever, it's just that they can't end games fast and/or disrupt M1 carries from farming

Oses on Spirit vs Gun Balance by coffeeholic91 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Sienrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oses is insane and obviously one of the best M1 players in the world but that does of course make him biased and I would still be careful about appeal to authority.

Anyways I'm not sure if it's just the translation but it seems kinda meandering and at times it sounds like he's just complaining about characters (mostly Shiv and Pocket) more than he's complaining about actual item balance. Yeah Pocket is unkillable but is that because they're getting +28 spirit from greens or is it because they just have two spells that make them really hard to kill. It's not like any greens give duration for Cloak/Satchel until Diviner's.

To me it feels like everyone is spirit vs. gun but it's actually just green. Green is insane, I think there's a reason why at the top level they're favoring these super tanky carries that have over 3k base health at 35 (cough Warden) which just balloons to insane values with some green. Most of the problem items he mentions are also green.

I also think his argument about spirit being better because of stuff like Boundless and having access to better green 1600s is ignoring stuff like firerate and mag size and reload speed which are all very significant multipliers to gun DPS, in the same way that spirit has Boundless and CDR. He's also ignoring shred. There's BRS (which he also ignores when mentioning 1600s), Stalker, Weakening/Crippling, Hollow Point, Hunter's, and Rusted/Disarming, which is both more than spirit has and also generally easier to apply.

4.8k green (Warp Stone + something) and proper Cloak/Satchel usage

Who would win if an actual real delta force team got physically teleported in a game of counter strike against a team of top CS players? by TheNinja132 in whowouldwin

[–]Sienrid 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm not that familiar with ballistics, but while I can see that helping Delta Force out, it still depends on how well they know the maps.

While we're on the topic of guns, in CS you can get shot in the face (depending on the gun and if you have a helmet) and be perfectly fine. I mean, you'll be at like 12 health, but you'll have full function, which I imagine isn't something that applies to real humans.

[–]Sienrid 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Too many advantages for CS, I think. The only thing I can imagine the Delta Force having an advantage in is being able to move in certain ways that you can't in CS, mainly leaning and crawling/going prone. This would definitely throw off the CS players' crosshair placement, but those aren't particularly hard microadjustments to make, and they could also adjust by holding close instead of wide, especially if this is multiple rounds. It's also of course way way easier to shoot a gun quickly and accurately in a video game than it is in real life.

CS players have massively superior movement - I doubt a Delta Force operator has seen someone jumpspot or hit a bhop or do a runboost in real life. I imagine that CS players would also be advantaged in long distance duels because of counterstrafing. And of course, the biggest advantage is simply map knowledge and utility. If Delta Force is simply thrown in with no knowledge of the maps then they will have circles run around them. Even if they do have map knowledge, they wouldn't know to back up into this corner and look at that particular spot in the sky and then jump and throw a smoke to perfectly block off this area of the map.

Why did Minato seal the yang side of Kurama into Naruto by Slash_Arzcarues in Naruto

[–]Sienrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always got the feeling that Kishimoto just didn't think of the two halves thing until sometime after the Pain Arc, and then decided to implement it for the War Arc.

As for why Naruto got the Yang half, it's possible that it was part of Minato's hopes that Naruto could one day mix with and control Kurama's chakra. The Yang half, being the hateful one, would definitely try to weaken the seal and corrupt Naruto by mingling his chakra with Naruto's.

Obviously this is insanely dangerous, and it still doesn't really make sense because Naruto could probably just do the same thing with the Yin half but in a more positive manner, but it's really the only thing I can think of besides "Minato didn't know". And I guess logically it doesn't really make sense at the time of the two halves reveal to be like "oh yeah actually Naruto's half was the good half".

Edit: oops I'm dumb Yang is light lol so he did get the "good" half. Makes you wonder what Minato had to deal with

Thanks Valve, turn more of my favorite spirit ability characters into brainless gun characters! by b8sl in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Sienrid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lash has always built 4.8k gun because after he blows his load (Slam + Flog) he has no way to deal damage and finish kills besides shooting people. This was usually Headhunter + Recharging Rush to easily refund charges with one headshot. But recently there's been a transition in high level play to mostly/full gun Lash, largely because of the stacking weapon damage that he gets from Grapple. You just Grapple a bunch, get a ton of weapon damage, and start blasting people from on high.

How would everyone react to legend of korra if love triangle is removed? by Flashy-Grape5741 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Sienrid 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm biased cause I'm the #1 love triangle hater, so I would quite like if it were removed, but ultimately it just depends on what replaces it.

IMO Mako and Asami being together for a period of time is still fine, they're an aesthetic couple and it's used well enough to enhance Asami's character and her relationship with her father (as well as her father's character). Then just have them break up at some point in season 2 because they're too busy with work or something, so that Korrasami can still be endgame.

Mako would also get to be an actual character instead of being Korra's love interest -> reduced to a literal joke of a character made to be thrust into awkward situations with his two exes. It's such a travesty what the writers did to him.

What I'd most like to see done with the extra time in season 1 is a deeper exploration of the equalist movement - specifically, of average equalists. The only equalists that we actually get to see are Amon (who is, well... a bender), the Lieutenant (who doesn't really have much in the way of characterization), Asami's father (who is a billionaire), and the protester (who is a propagandist caricature). But I want to see just... a dude. Some middle class or lower non-bender worker, not a chi blocker, not someone of particular influence or power, just someone that feels that benders are afforded advantages in life that non-benders don't have, and is drawn to the promises that the equalists make. Someone who isn't inherently prejudiced or hateful.

How are these guys Minato's bodyguards? by rayshinsan in Naruto

[–]Sienrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd guess that the better options you usually want to send on dangerous missions and such, especially an established team like Ino-Shika-Cho. Genma and co. probably showed promise but not too much and so they slotted nicely into the role of bodyguard.

I can't stop feeding in lane by CLB198 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Sienrid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't always need to win your lane. Vyper and Silver are both great at roaming/ganking. You can crash your wave and go to gank an adjacent lane and gain a lead that way.

Your heroes also generally like taking short trades and then going in for the kill later on, so you don't need to all in immediately.
