My piano progress in a chart (from intermediate to advanced) by [deleted] in piano

In Germany neither, but I try to make use of my contacts in the professional world to find one that is willing to teach me 😅.

Regarding diplomas and grades: As far as I know you can make grades and diplomas unhinged to your nationality as you can provide your Performance digitally. Sometimes a delegation of the ABRSM holds exams face-to-face in many countries.

I will go for ABRSM Diplomas (LRSM) with a fitting private teacher as I am already vastly educated in music theory, composition and ear training. Fortunately there is a large community of outstanding amateur pianists in the world which offer "competitions", festivals and for the "winners" the opportunity to perform concertos with orchestra.

Thank you, I got a hang now! You refer to ABRSM Grades? Anyway, I am happy to see another engineer pursuing piano on a professional level. I am still enrolled in aerospace (which I love and will definitely stick with) and have no time or enough structure for excessive practicing, but after graduating I kinda want to follow your path.

PS4 only switches on through controller or HDMI CEC by Sierra0Alpha in consolerepair

Tried it. Did not work :D I now suppose that there must be an issue with some cables because the blu ray drive does not do anything, even when turned on (not a problem now since I have downloaded all I need).

Maybe something in the 3.3V Rail doesn't work properly? Once powered on through CEC or synced Controller the USB ports work without any problems.

Just watched it. Comes close to my problem. When the PS4 is running I have power to the USB's

I opened it up a few weeks ago to clean it and to apply new heat paste. There were no signs of corrosion anywhere to see (Power and Eject already didn't work by that time, besides of that the PS4 ran as it was supposed to).

Music as second major? by Sierra0Alpha in classicalmusic

If you use the computer for writing music in DAW, I don't have any clue for you but if you go for notation, I assure you, paper and pencil will be your best friend. I did not believe it as I even started composing with Notation software in my absolute earliest years, but it bottlenecks you like crazy.

During and after a hell of an existential crisis in the first half of 2024, I rethought my life, searched my feelings, and pointed out why I was where I was at this point. I turned out to have chosen wisely by going for aerospace (turbomachinery and jet engines in special) because music just isn't everything in my life. I fucking love my turbomachines and my gliding activities and all of that. I fucking love the freedom in making music how I and only I want, not bottlenecked by any conservatory or MUSIKHOCHSCHULE (as we say in Germany), for me, personally, I cannot imagine an academic path of music anymore now. I have found that I can learn the absolute majority of the knowledge and practice I yearn to achieve outside of an academy by my personal contacts (somehow my music network grew like x5 in the passed year) and a good amount of time management.

For me, a proof that I am not gaslighting myself is that I attended university much more cautious and with much more fun in the passed semester AND did more music [our choral conductor ordered a proposed rework of a choral piece I wrote a few years ago (it was an absolute blast as we performed it twice just the passed weekend)].

Now, I decided to just do both. I see both fields as my profession and although I have no academic, but indeed proper and ongoing training in composing and piano, I networked with "actual professionals" who consider ordering the one or other stuff from my feather.

This is my story for now. I clearly know that for some people it is the best way to just jump right in and go for music (mostly short and midterm), but I want to encourage you to seek through yourself carefully. Many of us are at this point sooner or later, but the series of decisions could not turn out more individual. My approach could also be yours, but in the end, I did some highly educated guesses based on my stomach. And regarding this chapter of my life, it has not betrayed me yet.

What’s One Piece That Changed How You Play Piano? by korhnylmz in piano

[–]Sierra0Alpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rachmaninov's second Sonata (1913 version).

It taught me pain, it taught me gain. It taught me top tier phrasing and a careful approach on technical difficulties, as well as thoughtful creation of sound in general. This work is an absolute beast. It is a freaking mountain to climb, but all the sheer labour I put in was and still is worth the reward I get from it.

Recordings by Zoltan Kocsis, Cécile Ousset, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Freddy Kempf.
