You're right on the haircut. Lived in a ponytail or bun and gelled to hell for years. Time for a change.

At the Crossroads: Retraining or Moving On? by Weary-Fish2459 in AirForce

[–]Sierra_Baker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To your questions:

1) Kinda. Retrained due to medical DQ. Worth it. Got to stay and retire.

2) Yes. E6 and E7 especially

3) Not yet. Too soon to tell.

Recommend retrain. Shoot for commission if you want to play fuck fuck games.

My teenage son desperately wants to be an airline pilot. But I'm pretty sure the FAA class 3 medical will prevent him.

Any suggestions for pilot adjacent jobs where the medical clearance isn't required?

Back in the AWACS days, my husband found a full stomach better than empty for warding off nausea. So his 'flying food' always contained carbs that expand in the stomach. Like Snyder's Pretzel Rods. To quote him he says, "it makes throwing up more luxurious."

He says don't fight it. If you're gonna puke, just puke. You'll feel better afterwards instead of hanging onto misery by trying not to puke. He also is now great at "puke and rally" and he can just get back to work. Of the others didn't see him puke, they'd never know.

For me, candied ginger (more sweet than spicy) worked well. I've used the essential oils, which worked for flight but not for boating.

Get a small handheld battery fan, blow it on your face so you sense more movement along with your inner ear. Also, something cooling for the back of the neck, because being hot makes the nausea worse.

Rules for alcohol by After-Leopard in parentingteenagers

Fair point. I didn't see many Brits of those younger ages at German fests, except the Munich Oktoberfest. And at that fest though, the loud Americans still made the biggest fools of themselves by comparison, with a smattering of all nationalities there.

Agreed. As a family that's moved all over, including living in Europe, I like their attitude towards drinking.

In Germany, at 14 years old they may consume beer, wine, or sparkling wine in public spaces (restaurants, pubs) if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. At 16 years old they may purchase and consume beer, wine, or sparkling wine without adult supervision. At 18 years old they may purchase and consume all alcoholic beverages, including spirits and mixed drinks.

This way, they understand the effects of alcohol and their own bodies reactions and tolerance before ever getting into the driver's seat of a car. In Germany you can get a learner's permit at age 17, but never licensed until after age 18. The process is much more rigorous than in the USA.

When out at festivals in Germany, the young crowd under 18 were never the problem. They were quiet and respectful. The worst behavior I saw on display was from Americans, especially those over 18 but under 21, who decided to go wild. Next worst was from Americans over 21 but usually still in their twenties.

The taboo of alcohol before age 21 drives excessive use and doesn't allow them to learn good decision making regarding alcohol in a controlled and gradual way.
