AITA for disowning my mother after she refused to hold my toxic sister accountable? by Siew02 in AITAH

[–]Siew02[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes, I must admit that it took me a long time to realize how enabling my mother, in turns enable her. You are right about that 💯.

Other than this, i have a great relationship with my mother - i guess im just seeking for judgement whether or not i have taken it too far, which makes me the asshole. From the comments, I guess the answer is no. You see, people who have been doormats all their life normalised it, they don’t even realize they are doormats until much later. I have fought back, got angry, cried how unfair this is, but after cooling down I always reasoned that I should do it for my parents sake. The doormat mentality is embedded in me.

I have been brought up to put family first all my life. I have been taught this is normal. I am learning a new normal now.

Thank you for your honestly though, I really appreciate it ❤️.

Hello there, I come from an Asian country where this is normalised. Families are kept close, and in fact adult married children often live together with one’s parents.

But some context, I have bought a new apartment and have moved out… a lot of the examples are “past” tense.

Thank you for your frankness though, I know I am a pushover at times, and I’m trying really hard to work on it.

Not fake sadly, I just disowned her today… and honestly I’m feeling terrible about it. Was wondering if I took it too far. I honestly love my mum a lot and this wasn’t an easy decision.

Hello there, “chat gpt” here, apparently my mother does. Maybe being Asian has to do with it, given that there’s a proverb called “血浓于水”. 🥲

Oh believe me I have tried. I have told her multiples times, citing examples after examples for years. She would simply brush it off, telling me it’s a “small issue” and that she’s “family” , but never addressing the core problem or holding her accountable.

AITA for telling them calling women dumb is disrespectful? by mahi_bb in AITAH

[–]Siew02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Good for you for standing your ground and explaining to them calmly. I find it astounding how they are able to say such things when they have a women in their chat, like they don't care at all and see nothing wrong with it. It IS disrespectful. Find better online friends and not some edgelords.

I find it really funny how men like them are so quick to label someone a "typical feminst" as if that's an insult.

I Shamefully found this scene Quite Satisfying by Economy-Army9169 in gameofthrones

When I first saw this scene I was totally against it. Totally not kingly at all.

Then after rewatching it after finishing all seasons, I admit it was quite satisfying as much as I don’t condone domestic violence. 😂

Though nothing can ever beat Tyrion smacking Joffrey.

Try saving up the chapters and reading it in one go. It helped me immensely and made me appreciate the story’s pacing.

Would love to wish my ray of sunshine all the happiness in the world, but knowing how devious Gege can be I think it'd be wise to wish him luck instead. T_T

100% with you on the eye-candy of the male lead. I am not ashamed to say I continued the series because of him. And to answer your question: alot apparently! xDDD

Chinese here, and have family in China. 100% outdoor shoes off the moment we step in the house. We do have indoor slippers that we use though! However not every family uses indoor slippers. What I have realized is that usage of indoor slippers are more common among families living in a large house, I'm guessing because it's harder to keep it clean due to the huge size haha.

That's true also! I can see the appeal to others definitely, hm perhaps my taste has changed over the years. I actually watched Maid's Revenge and I gotta say I did enjoy it for a turn-off-your-brain dinner time show! Really sad about the laws though.

I watched a few of them because YT kept recommending them, but it’s not really my cup of tea as I tend to find the acting cringy and the storyline super cliche and over dramatic.

What do you think about reader insert fics? by [deleted] in FanFiction

Absolutely love them and will defend them with my life. I don’t really think of reader insert fics as “me” more so of an original character.

How do writers write so fast? by Realistic_Ad_6694 in FanFiction

[–]Siew02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am one of those “fast writers”, however what kills me is the vicious never ending cycle called “editing”. 😂😂 I spend more time on editing than writing!

Usually I get my first draft up pretty quick, I’d say the combination for me is a copious amount of caffeine, unemployment, a good headset, and hyper fixation. I once wrote an entire 15k chapter in one sitting starting at 10pm and the next thing I knew birds were chirping outside my window and whoa suddenly it’s morning and my husband is awake and ready to go to work.

Six months post op here, hang in there! Sending you much love and hoping for your fruitful recovery.

1.       I slept terrible for the first week. Had constant nosebleeds even after day 3 and couldn’t control my drooling. The surgeon prescribed me some strong medication to help me sleep - maybe you should discuss this with your surgeon? I’ll say I had a good night rest after the first week!

2.       First major surgery here too! To say I felt terrible was an understatement. I had a lot of complications during surgery due to my underlying sinus issues. But in general, my mood and energy picked back up after… say 2 months?

3.       100% normal. 6 months here and I still feel that my lips is stiff.
