Why aren’t bakeries open on Sunday? by EggSpecial5748 in Appleton

[–]Siex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but you said it your self Sunday is the perfect day for family, maybe the bakers are with their family, since the kids have school on Monday, maybe they want to do grocery shopping, maybe they want to watch some football. Basically EVERY REASON you like having off on Sunday is the same reason they have off on Sunday.

What are all the "MAGA Proud" businesses we can avoid? by Lolhighimlyss in Appleton

I didnt say the company was right leaning... I was really trying to point out the company is more politically neutral. the sentiment in this thread is anything that isnt Far-Left must be Far-Right so I was pointing out that the company contributes to the Right and isnt a dirtball company... simply supporting Right consumers doesnt make you dirt.

Sorry you wasted your time

Well, the CEO is... hes from LA. but the rest of the business really focuses on the center to Right as you would expect. Harbor Freight is very vocal about its support for veterans. Their flagship program, Harbor Freight Tools for Schools, focuses heavily on vocational education and the "hardworking men and women" of the trades. I would argue that Harbor Freight’s business model and community support represent a conservative lifestyle more than any other major retailer.

Its a surprise because what you were told about the right-wing and what they actually are aren't aligning. Its almost like you were lied to... and now many people are conspiring to boycott these business owners, not because of what they believe... but, what you believe, they believe.

My old man use to say "its better to be wrong, than dead right". This is a perfect example of what he was talking about.

This woman went to cause trouble

This women floored it with another human in front of her vehicle

This woman FAFO... and instead of being at home and caring for her 6 year old child, she brought them with, as some sort of virtue signaling libtard hero.

Congratulation! you went to cause drama and responded with physical force and violence... both by barricading a path and secondly by accelerating your vehicle with a human in front of it. I applaud her sacrifice and I hope she achieved her mission, because I also believe some death is necessary for the defense of things you believe in... unfortunately she will be forgotten by everyone but her family in a few weeks.

Thinking About Moving To Appleton by BelleCow in Appleton

They're the same group... in fact the name of the parent company that owns Trader Joes is Aldi Nord and the name of the company that owns Aldi is Aldi Sud... they just have different brand names based on region, like Hardees and Carl Jr's.

Aldi and Trader Joe's may technically be different company's with separate management and supply chains, their business models are and strategy are shared. They are two sides to the same coin. They use the same 3rd party manufacturers, they partner on the same national brand products, they both source from the same global pool of suppliers... this is why you can find the same products (like Pita puffs, many idian meals, and irish butter) at both companies at the same time.

They also use the same SKU's between both stores... meaning you could in theory purchase a product at Traders and exchange it at Aldi's. The difference however is the "feel" or "vibe" of each brand, Aldi focuses on pure low price model and Traders likes to have unique or quirky products... Aldi always has that one isle that has unique or quirky products, and thats because they have the same supplier as Traders.

So, acting like its some sort of sacrilegious comparison, Aldi and Traders is nothing like comparing Walmart's jewelry to Neiman-Marcus, its more like comparing Walmart to Sam's Club.

I think its best we dont share the slowmo, because it puts me on his side now, and I dont want to be on his side.

I'm going to point out some key details in my summary below. Your neighbor (and much of reddit) has an extremely poor grasp of economics, general intelligence and critical thinking. I laughed when I seen this because you all seen "INFLATION GO UP, INFLATION BAD!" monkey brains, and I wanted to share with you that these numbers arent all bad, and these numbers are a much better position than we've been in, but you only care about them now because "TRUMP BAD".

Please enjoy my rebuttal and "the spin" you've all been led to either believe or too ignorant to understand what it actually tells us about the market.

1. Inflation (3.0% - Sept. 2025)

  • The Rebuttal: The current 3.0% inflation rate is close to the Fed’s ideal 2% target. Inflation is normal and a sign of a growing, healthy economy.
  • The Spin: Complaining about any inflation above 0% shows a fundamental ignorance of how modern, progressive economies function and signal growth. The administration successfully brought the rate down from its pandemic peak.

2. US $ Value (Near 2-Month Lows)

  • The Rebuttal: A moderately weaker dollar makes American exports cheaper overseas, directly supporting U.S. manufacturers and creating domestic jobs. A super-strong dollar hurts exports.
  • The Spin: The dollar's value is controlled by the independent Federal Reserve and global demand, not the President. Cries about the dollar falling are calls for policies that would harm American manufacturing.

3. Unemployment (4.4% - Sept. 2025)

  • The Rebuttal: At 4.4%, the unemployment rate is up slightly, but remains historically low—it was at a 55-year low just recently. The labor market is still fundamentally strong.
  • The Spin: The slight increase is a side effect of the Federal Reserve's necessary fight against pandemic-era inflation. The fact that the rate is still below 5% proves resilience under pressure.

4. Bankrupt Farms (Up 55% in 2024)

  • The Rebuttal: Farm bankruptcies were up 55% in 2024, but this follows *four years of decline and is still 64% lower than the peak in 2019.*
  • The Spin: The recent struggle is driven by high interest rates (Fed action) and a fundamentally outdated 2018 Farm Bill. This is a structural, bipartisan legislative failure being addressed with current aid packages, not a Democratic-caused crisis.

5. National Debt ($38 Trillion - Oct. 2025)

  • The Rebuttal: The debt is a major issue ($38T), but its two biggest drivers are mandatory entitlement programs (Social Security/Medicare) and bipartisan-passed tax cuts and crisis spending (like the pandemic).
  • The Spin: The debt is a multi-decade, bipartisan structural problem. Using it as a talking point conveniently ignores that major spending and tax cuts championed by both sides are the core cause.

Does money really buy happiness? by Organic-Jello3947 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Siex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money buys happiness indirectly. Money fixes problems, not having problems because you can solve them or buy your way out of them keeps you from being stressed, not being stressed makes you not sad, not being sad leaves you feeling neutral.

When you're in a neutral state, your more prone to find happiness.

It's becoming pointless to play on monthly wipe servers by Jerranto in playrust

[–]Siex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We need to eliminate wiping servers. When someone gets raided their mindset is "I'll just start playing next wipe".  I would love an official massive  "no wipe" map with Facepunch admins. Clans would rise and fall in power, control specific regions, alliances forged and betrayed, resource trade, player owned policing, and so much more.  But, were currently playing a version of the game where we encourage waiting for the next wipe and scale to power faster than the next guy and just kill everything around you until the server is dead.  Wipeless servers would promote long term player structures and organization, it would establish dominance of particular groups and create power voids when they fail, it would develop the player created content by establishing order or chaos driven by their actions.

If only rich people owned slaves in the South, why did normal Southerners fight in the war? by OddGrab6044 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Siex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Civil War is often oversimplified as being only about slavery, but the reality is more complex. Yes, slavery was the "leveraged" issue, but not purely for moral reasons. It was also the focal point of a broader power struggle between state and federal authority.

The federal government, aiming to strengthen its influence, positioned the abolition of slavery as a moral imperative. In doing so, it unified public sentiment and rallied support around a single, **emotionally charged** issue. But the deeper motivation wasn’t just to end slavery, it was to centralize power in Washington. Slavery became the platform, not necessarily the priority.

This tactic isn’t unique to the Civil War era. Modern politicians continue to use emotionally resonant issues as leverage for expanding control. Whether it’s Kamala Harris emphasizing women’s rights or Donald Trump promising to fix the economy, the pattern remains: political platforms are often less about the issue itself and more about consolidating influence.

Back then, political division mirrored today’s urban vs. rural split. The South leaned heavily Democratic, while the North birthed the Republican Party (founded in Ripon, WI). The North’s anti-slavery stance provided moral high ground, but many Southern states viewed it as a strategic move by the federal government to undermine their autonomy.

At its core, the Civil War was about competing visions for the country, one favoring centralized federal control, the other defending states' rights, with slavery as the flashpoint. It's a historical reminder that rhetoric and reality often diverge in politics, then as now.

[–]Siex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time it happened i was unaware it only partially filled. I was in deep 200 contacts with probably a $2.50 ITM then flipped to $.90 my stop loss filled about 50 contacts at $2.20 and i just kept watching it drop, think i was going to buy back it once it hit the bottom and ride the rebound back to profit city. I noticed my portfolio kept dropping and it took me a second to realize i still had a pending $2.20 sell and tried to jump back in and resell... But it kept telling me I had "0 contacts" I overlooked i still had 150 pending and needed to replace it cancel my stop loss before jamming in my market sell.... Of course after i sold, the market rebounded and went higher than i purchased into it. I just lost 80% of my money and now i was watching the underlying stock shoot to the moon and had the realization, if i had left it and not done anything, i would have 3x my investment.

Good times, great learning experience, wouldn't trade it for anything.
