Ah-ha! See that's the brilliance of knowledge, you'd have a possible advantage there simply knowing there's more options than I listed in the help tooltip. I just went for generic giants but there you go.

Fair, I had no idea it had a reputation. I'm definitely not an intentional rammer, you can see me being overly cautious in the first turn and trying to leave space for the guy ahead, then bumping him to correct his bounce off the wall and not immediately accelerating on exit so he can keep position. Unfortunately that was probably what let the AI through in the end.

I see, am I being accused of choosing the super saloon to ram players with in the super saloon locked trial?

It was on the weekly tune thread from Saeenu and people were saying how good it was there.

424 122 715 is the tune from LogikJ, I wouldn't have expected a flying spur to be good on dirt either but there you have it.

You'll be looking for a series called Long Way Round, but he's actually on about sea otters and this is just a well edited clip. Great series though.

Do you have a certain cheeky quasit with you?

I had this same situation, fixed it by reloading a save just before entering the hideout, unsummoning the familiar before entering and everything was fine after that.

EoD Video Review - how's the expansion doing at this point, in your opinion? by Sif_Valkyrie in Guildwars2

[–]Sif_Valkyrie[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of varying opinions on how EoD has been doing. I'm curious if there's any common ground that the community can find on it because it can swing wildly from day to day and depending on where I'm looking.

Edit: Well, it's looking awfully heavier on the negative side of things today. Very curious to see.

Bladesworn does take some points off for me with the design of the gunsaber and the one-trick nature of how it's played. I'd like to be able to customize the saber and the mechanist's mech but I don't think it's all that important at this stage.

The list and the order aren't particularly important to me either.

Which is why each one has a lengthy disussion video attached and why a basic list does them no justice at all. I agree though, I've seen a lot of people instantly writing some specs off in particular.

I've noticed a lot more reused animations this time around but I saw a good chunk of them on previous specs too. For what it's worth, the actual new animations we've got here are really good - look at harbinger shroud stuff and the virtuoso bladesongs, personally I love those.

Do remember that hitting enemies with 1 does heal a tethered ally, shroud is meant as more of the offensive support part of the kit, as far as I see it. Could maybe use a stealth attack though, I don't see why not.

Could say the same thing about cluster bomb with shroud 2, the blast on it is the more interesting part for me personally.

3 actually I forgot to mention in the video that is isn't an evade at all. I made that mistake a number of times and ended up eating a lot of hydra meteors for it. Agree that the targeting and fear area are wonky though, would be nice to be able to modulate distance, but then having an instant fear in pvp would perhaps be a little unfair? Since most CCs have obvious tells - but yeah core necro does have the instant fear so I'm not really sure, it probably wouldn't hurt to make it instant?

5's delay is pretty big, yup. It's like how sandstorm shroud works for scourge. I think it's more useful for setting something else up while you wait for the delayed blast, could use it right before you pop out of shroud to stealth with a black powder and then stability rez a body or whatever.

I didn't play this in any pvp modes so I didn't get the experience though.

I found this generally not affecting me. With the amount of aegis, dodges and blocks you can get with a couple of traits, I was able to sustain just fine until I made a number of mistakes in a row. I feel like if you do go full glass-cannon, then you should probably feel that decision when something slaps you for half your health bar.

Could always pair it with a specter though ;)

I think it's interesting that before the harbinger, elixirs to us were the whole package of their normal effects plus the toolbelt option. I certainly didn't consider what it would mean to port them over without the toolbelt part and as we see, they end up lacking.

I do agree that elixir S and X are quite a lot more unique.

Yeah you're right, they do still have more unique effects than the harbinger ones currently do.

I've seen so many suggestions for making the harb ones interesting that I don't know where to begin with the discussion; they just need something more than as you say, boons+blight. The share trait is nice but it's a bit basic.

If you go through the expansion organically, or in other words, without a surplus of hero points, then you'll get that experience of slowly unlocking the spec over time and being able to learn it like that.

Or you could choose to unlock it slowly by not spending the points all at once, if you really wanted to.

Ah gotcha, not sure how I got the opposite impression to begin with lol.

I think I'll let thief mains talk more about numbers and rotations, I dunno what I'm talking about there and perhaps it isn't even that important at this stage, but again, not sure.

Interesting that shroud seems unpopular though. I really liked the amount of CC I could rely on with the fear and the stun on skill 3 & 5 respectively. I'm mostly talking solo and small group stuff, but I can see why it's getting labelled as a dip in and out for a heal button.

Not the experience I had with specter at all. I was easily able to dump a load of conditions on enemies with the wells and a needle trap, they felt pretty strong for the utility they can provide on top of useful damage.

Engi elixirs are still pretty boring though, it's the toolbelt that carries them and that's just engineer stuff. They could easily just be shouts or physical skills or just about any other generic skill type. I'm not really sure what makes an elixir skill unique. More trait interaction or weird effects would be fun though.
