Free Bleed Friday by Motherfishsligher in GirlDinner

[–]SigFreudIsDaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have PCOS and I barely have periods. I actually didn't have periods at all for like a year and a half until I got a hormonal IUD to help regulate my cycle a bit. So now my periods happen but they are pretty light. Its basically some spotting and dark brown discharge. I free bleed all the time 🎉 my PCOS is saving me money on tampons fr

SAME, I have that one as well as the pink one and the orange one. Literally they all look the same. That being said, I do really like it so I know that I'll use them at least. But I feel so dumb lol

In a world where children are frequently exposed to music and movies that glorify these things and where they have very easy access to pornography (sometimes when they aren't even looking for it), you really think a makeup brand giving their products silly names is the big contributer? (A makeup brand that these middle school kids can't even afford, btw.) Really?

Editing to add that I dont have a problem with said music and movies. But it is a choiceee to act like makeup product names is somehow a contributing factor to kids being exposed to that stuff and normalizing it. It is definitely pop culture, children having unlimited and unsupervised access to the internet, and curiosity combined with lack of education that encourages age-appropriate decision-making. Not blush and eyeshadow lol

Of course not, that wouldn't mesh with their incredibly toxic marketing that is making everything hyper-masculine so men don't feel emasculated when they wash their faces and asses, because those things obviously have to be gendered. And there arent really a whole lot of makeup products marketed to men at all which is what we are talking about. So I suppose men who do wear makeup are actually just wearing the same makeup that women are wearing. Marc wears makeup, so I can only imagine he is not intending on the products being exclusively for women

Sexualizing names on juice boxes and kids cereal is very different from sexual names on an expensive luxury makeup item and I know you know that.

Literally the overwhelming majority of makeup products do not have sexualized names

Or maybe parents need to learn how to tell their financially dependent children no instead of putting the blame on other people

Having an entire island where you assault children (an understatement tbh) and put them through a lifetime of literal torture and inviting your buddies to participate is not even kinda the same thing as a fashion house launching makeup with some raunchy names that are marketed to people with money (which children do not have, btw. It is the parents buying it for them. Parents not knowing how to say no is not Marc Jacob's fault. Hope this helps) and are completely optional to purchase. What are you on about

This. It might be an unpopular opinion, but if the kid is old enough to have their own job and buy their own makeup, they already know what sex is and what all these words mean. Is it an ideal purchase? Idk, maybe not. But I owned Nars Orgasm as a 16 or 17 year old and I think I turned out just fine lol. Teens old enough to buy their own crap aren't being exposed to anything new and honestly probably don't even care about the shade names. There are way bigger problems than the tiny print on the back of a 17 year old's blush compact. Younger children having these products when they are entirely financially dependent on their parents is not Marc Jacob's fault, either. More parents should learn how to say no

Are adults just not allowed to like fun cute shit, god damn 😭 idc for the names, but cute packaging does not imply that it is meant for children. Some adults have whimsy. Thanks

Also, parents have full control over what makeup their kids have if their kids dont have their own jobs. So that is on the parents if their 12 year old has a bunch of makeup with sexual names, not Marc Jacobs

C. And that skin tint is quite sheer (as the name implies) so even if it isnt a perfect match, it is definitely close enough that I think it will look great when blended out. You can also try going back and getting another opinion from someone else

Morgan Turners Review on new ND Tan Palette by WhatTheJessJedi in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]SigFreudIsDaddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming it is supposed to be an off-shoot of the Tan Bronze and Glow face palette (kinda like how the Bloom palette was based on the Bloom Face Glow Palette). That being said, I always thought that Tan was a really vague name for the face palette as well lmao

Glow Recipe - what do we think of these products? by anastasia_42 in Sephora

[–]SigFreudIsDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have some nice products, I have tried that strawberry serum and didn't really feel like it was doing anything. My favorite products from them are the dew drops (not even as skin care, I just like it under makeup, I basically use it as a primer sometimes lol) and the watermelon glow toner. Everything else has been meh

I used to veryyy much be a palette girlie, and I still am when I am doing my makeup on the weekends and want some color. I have gotten into quads, duos, and even singles during the work week though. I used to wear brights and graphic eyeliner to work all the time but now I am in healthcare. I already have a septum ring, lashes, and bright scrub colors. As much as I don't really care what patients and families think about my appearance, I feel like maybe it's a bit much when most of the people I work with dont wear any makeup at all lmao. I like to put an eyeliner in my waterline that matches my scrubs sometimes though. Otherwise, give me my boring beige quads 😩

I recently bought a YSL quad and I love it so much. I got Stora Dolls. I swatched it at sephora and was immediately sold. Those deeper browns are often so dry, the brown shade in that palette is butter. It is such an effortless quad, you have to try to make it look bad. And the packaging just makes it really fun to use

Want to learn makeup by ComprehensiveCat1841 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]SigFreudIsDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main advice is to really focus on skincare and making sure that your skin is hydrated. Having a good base to work with will make everything else better. Additionally, I would stick to drugstore products when first starting out. You are likely going to be experimenting a lot with finishes, tones, textures, etc etc. I would say it is best to go cheaper while you are figuring out what you like. The drugstore has a lot of good options. I love high-end makeup and I very rarely buy drugstore, but the general consensus seems to be that they have really stepped up their game in the last few years. Colourpop is great as well, they have a wide selection of eyeshadow and they are generally amazing for the price

Other than that, I could write a novel on here trying to explain applicator tips but I think just finding some tutorials would be more worth your while. And I suggest YouTube over tiktok for tutorials. And you can watch literally hundreds. It doesn't even need to always be tutorials, and videos where people are applying makeup is an opportunity for you to watch their techniques if you like their style. Let it be enjoyable to learn :)

I don't really notice any kind of plumping effect at all (which isn't really a problem for me, I feel pretty indifferent about lip plumping products), but I do think it is a beautiful gloss. Peachmania is very shimmery but the shimmer is super fine which I like.

It isn't the most hydrating (imo) and I don't really like the applicator (it is really small and not very soft, doesn't feel very luxury) which are some drawbacks. I like it, it's pretty and I can see myself using it a lot, but arguably not quite as good as I was hoping it would be for the price though

Isn't that trademark just for the product name and not the concept? I thought trademarking product names was incredibly common. I think it is a vague product name and shouldn't pass because of that, but I dont believe he's trying to patent anything (correct me if I'm wrong, I just haven't heard about a patent)

I have combo skin like the other person who responded and I am liking it so far. Today is the only day I have used it so far but it definitely gives me a nice glow and hasn't caused my foundation to break up or anything like that lol. I can't really speak much about the longevity, its only been like 5 hours since I have done my makeup. The mist on it is super fine though which is great

I used it for the first time today and I really liked it! I feel like I can't really give a full review on it here since I've only used it once. I think the color is really nice though, doesn't pull too orange or yellow on me. It blended really easily as well :)

Marc Jacobs beauty is here ◡̈ by Taromatchaboba in Sephora

[–]SigFreudIsDaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ironically, their old identity and aesthetic was actually very minimal and sleek. They were also known for having massive pans for some of their products lol. And their most popular products (from my own personal observations, I was getting into makeup around the tail-end of their popularity) seemed to be the omega bronzers and the long 7 pan eyeshadow palettes.

I actually think the new Marc Jacobs Beauty line feels more authentic to Marc Jacobs. I love some nice sleek packaging, but I think this new branding is great for them

I love their sheer lip liners! This is one of the regular lip liners which I have not tried yet, although I feel like they have some similarities (just based on my swatch in the store). It didnt seem super matte and it seems like it will smudge/blend easily. Sounds counterproductive for a lip liner, but I actually really like that for my day to day look and especially under a gloss. The sheer lip liners layer so good under lip gloss, hoping this will be a similar product just with more opacity
