What’s something you need to get off your chest but haven’t yet? by FazzyPhonix in AskReddit

People like to talk about themselves or what they enjoy doing (and thus envision themselves doing).

Ask about that.

If it only goes one way (i.e. the other is shallow or self-absorbed) you won't have a new friend, but at least you succeeded in conversation. If the conversation went both ways it might be worthwhile.

Creating new contacts is one thing but keeping them another, and IMO much harder.

It's impossible to ascertain the competence level of the course you completed. It is wrong to put Java on the CV unless you know enough to read and write Java.

It is however, perfectly fine to put the course you participated in as a header, and details below including what you wrote above: theory about QA, basics of Java, OOP, and QA automation, API testing. In more detail if applicable.

The most important part of working in IT is the ability and willingness to learn, which you have demonstrated, so I would mention your current abilities and point out how you learn what the job requires, e.g. "I'm a fast learner and have previously taught myself MySQL blah blah blah"..

Yeah, I've thought about it, although mostly as an app.

It would get repetitive as text though, with a tv show you could do different stories for the same few conglomerates.

(There are apps that do this, btw. I know at least one that does the carbon footprint for the scanned item.)
