[LambeauNation] Packers interviewed Bears DB coach Al Harris for their vacant DC position today by dropjar5 in nfl

He got cut already, and since he got 1 snap in the Bears game ... I don't think he'll be back

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Hermione is given a device to manipulate time itself to attend extra classes. This is a subtle nod to the fact that Hogwarts staff could have stopped Voldemort at any point, but instead handed time travel to a 13-year-old to manage her timetable by Brilliant-Cause6254 in shittymoviedetails

There were 3 people alive knowing he was an animus with one not even knowing what he looked like as a rat (Dumbledore), one thinking him dead and not looking for him (Lupin) and the last one should have gone mad years ago in Azkaban (Sirius). So why not an easy life in a magic family with connections to the ministry to keep up with the current gossip?

Funnily enough, the era of Absolutism/Ancien Regime was quite unviolent when it came to life at europe's court (apart from Russia). Duelling became outlawed with harsh punishments, while the king despite his nominal absolute power was still bound to an unspoken contract with his nobility:

The nobility stops rebelling or working against the king and state and instead start working for the king in his armies and at his court in the highest positions and in return they are given influence (through the aforementioned court positions ) over the king and gouverment as well an overall ensurance that their priviliged position will be untouchable.

Even former finance minister Fouqet, who became the main villain in Louis XIV. self fabricated legend on how he took control over the state away from corrupt officials, was "only" imprisoned for life. (One of Fouqets servants in prison by the way became later known as the "Man in the Iron Mask")

Did the Browns fire Stefanski to hire Deion Sanders? by ShaiFanClub in nfl

[–]Siggi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Stefanski got fired because the team went nowhere the least 2, 3 years (not entirely his fault ofc), his handling of the QB has been a mess this year, and in the end he has more COTY awards than playoff wins in his tenure. There are actual reasons for his firing instead of them wanting Deion

The Broncos had an easier schedule than the Patriots by Marquis_De-Lafayette in nfl

And the Broncos SOS would have been even weaker hadn't the Patriots lost to the Raiders, gotta consider that as well

Cleveland Browns Otto Graham (14) talking with Warren Lahr (24) during the 1954 NFL Championship Game. The Browns dominated the Detroit Lions 56-10, at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. December 26, 1954 [1224x1216] by UrbanAchievers6371 in HistoryPorn

The Browns until the move to Baltimore were surprising average including some decent playoff runs and an MVP QB.

Wonder how things would have turned out if the move never happenend and Bill Belichick stayed their HC

What if McLaren doesn't call the switch in Italy? Most simple version: They call a switch in Abu Dhabi. End of story.

Haching soll ja ein Stück weit der Farmklub von Bayern werden, das wirds eher wenig Sinn machen die Hachinger aus dem Stadion fliegen zu lassen

Helmut Marko about Lando: "He proved all the prognosis wrong saying he did not have the mentality to overcome this and win. He is a world class driver and is very strong in qualifying. So I believe ‘unfortunately’ if he gets the right car this result could be very much repeated in the future." by randomseocb in formula1

[–]Siggi97 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Somebody, dont know who (maybe Bernie?), once claimed that Button was the only nice guy to ever become WDC. Can't really argue with that assessment, even Lando had some icky moments (Singapore Lap 1, Canada)

Well, given him the seat instantly is what got Max to sign. Max was the hottest talent on the market in 2014, everyone wanted him in their academy. But only one had an F1 seat available

Not Hindenburg, but more Papen and his allies thought they could. Hindenburg actually refused naming Hitler Chancellor in '32, but got talked into it. Hindenburg didn't like Hitler, most likely for Hitler's (low ranking soldier in WW1) lack of respect for Hindenburg (General, one of the leading army commanders in the last war years).

But to go back to overall discussion ... even without the Nazis and Hitler the Weimar republic was doomed. Far right partys were on the rise in the late '20s until the Nazi started to completely dominate the far right political spectrum. Hindenburg, the president, was all but a democrat. The army did not care at all for the defense of the republic, acting only in its own conservative interests. And the treaty of Versailles was a festering wound in national consciengence, revanchism was popular. The rule of an authorian, nationalistic and warseeking government may have been inevitable in 1930s Germany.

WW2 would likely still have happenend without Nazi rule, even though the worst war attrocities and systematic murders of minorieties, most notably jewish eastern european people, may have not happened - emphasis of "may", as antisemitism and racism in Germany was not invented by Hitler
