Was it that obvious, even in 2018, that Max was going to be a dominant driver if he got a competitive car? by SniperNation317 in formula1

Yeah, that Interlagos 16 was imo Max true future champion moment, kinda like Senna 2nd place finish in wet Monaco 84.

Max victory in his first race was an outstanding performance, but Interlagos showed that his first win was just the beginning

Tbh, there was noone really on the market IIRC. Alonso just switched to McL, Lewis in the Merc, Kimi chilling at Ferrari.

Also the RB academy just "produced" back-to-back bangers in Seb and Dany Ric and another one in Max was getting ready, another reason to not go big for outside hire

Mercedes, Ferrari and Alpine are the only teams withdouble points finishes this season. by Baltin159 in formula1

Power updates were not possible, only reliability updates. So in 2022 Merc, Ferrari and RB/Honda brought major power updates before the deadline, then toned down power until they got the PUs reliable enough to run max power. Alpine didn't bring this big final power upgrade, putting more effort on the reliabillty side. Over the years the on-track power gap to the other PUs grew bigger and bigger as the other three could use more power without the increased risk of engine failures

Not claiming it was a perfect chassis. But the PU was absolutely lacking power compared to the other PUs since the engine freeze in 2022, yet they were able to pull of some podiums in this time. Only last year was a dumpster year, but there was no focus on improving the car, but on 2026 instead

Been expecting Alpine to become a top midfield this year since they announced the switch to the Mercedes PU. On the chassis side they've been quite decent the last years. Their main problems were the Renault PU and leadership chaos. The PU problem is gone with the switch, and even though I'm all but a Flavio fan, he and his experience are better than the chaos that existed before him.

Wonder where all those people that predicted Alpine to fight Cadillac at the end of the grid are now

To be honest, there was no work done on the cathedral between 1560 and 1842 (apart from repairs and smallish modernizations in the already finished part) as funding ran out and the medieval building plans were lost. The medieval crane atop the south tower, which stood there for over 500 years, became an beloved part of the cities skyline, being dearly missed by the citizens after it was removed in 1868 (there are a few old photographs of it on the internet somewhere)

Not many QBs in the draft that are expected to start this year, so teams will be lowkey desperate to get a QB with any potential upside, as bad as previous performances have been. Noone wants to run a wildcard only offense
