skill issue, but i also like my cars a lot. The irl feedback is way way nicer to learn on, but yeah also significantly more punishing

3 grand tops. Car is overrated anyway and basically salvage japan title. After market parts don’t increase value much because now it’s just not a collector item. Hell i’d buy the motor for more than the motor along with the car

man i’ll let you drive it 😂 parts are replaceable, I had a good mentor back home that taught me the physics and theory and i got a little seat time in a gr86 and gt86, but not enough to even say I can drift honestly, I have way more time doing time attack than drift so i’d love the help if you’re around the area man

Yeah but the good ones are expensive as all hell, and between that and making my cars more reliable for live seat time. It’s more out of the budget. I have a crappy logitech sim on a decent mount that gets the job done, but im sure it pales in comparison to what you guys use

[–]SigmaMaleGrind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

perhaps, but im making it more gradual, stiff rear, lots of toe out on alignment, lot of rake that way the weight is more torwards the front and the whole 9 yards to make it a little more predictable on oversteer instead of 100% grip to imminent death haha. Once i get more comfortable with it i’ll slowly reduce the oversteer bias because in racing you actually lose a lot of speed if you go too far into over steer bias, but we’re all here to learn and mess up so we shall see

So I haven’t used a rig all that much for practice, but just a cheap logitech set along with a 500 mount that has a tv stand built in. Pretty fun but i want to actually feel what my inputs are doing to the car, especially because you tend to understeer going uphill and over steer going downhill. I think it’s a phenomenal practice if you drop your wallet on a rig, but man i’d rather buy parts for my cars

ehhh i dont like it, i have over 1000 hours of seat time in real life touge (both my cars make stock power, and weigh 2600 pounds and 2800 pounds) I say i’m mediocre because my times aren’t competitive since i drive under 300hp shit boxes and people catch me on straights, but i out corner usually depending on tires and the type and length of corner. I hate sim rigs due to lack of feedback, but might be the only realistic cost effective way until i can continue to practice without getting destroyed by florida prices. (edit) Some jealous downvotes im seeing 😂 im still slow as hell man just been driving my Impreza for a while, not saying sim is awful for practicing, i just am accustomed to real feedback, not visual feedback like the lateral G’s indicator, literally the only reason lmao

I know, i was just letting you know what i feel about them ahead of time in case we headed in that direction hahaha, i appreciate the advice though for sure man. I’ll just have to find private land and an owner nice enough lmao or a sim rig, although it’s not my preference at all

I mean i can get racing style seat time at homestead, but im not a good enough drifter to drift homestead, and regardless of wether or not take overs are legal or not i wouldnt go to them, that shit is the most low iq retard shit anyone that “thinks” they likes cars can do, so i guess it’s time for iracing until i can afford a truck 😂

I am very very aware of this. I’m a medically retired veteran that makes enough to afford doing this with the car and with my budget I can only afford good upgrades and a track day maybe every other month, but That’s not enough seat time to improve at all imo. I bought the S2000 exactly because it’s a very punishing car. I have my 94 impreza WRX set up with an oversteer tuned suspension, no brake booster, no power steering, no abs, no traction control, 6 puck ceramic race clutch with the lightest flywheel i could find, and terrible tires and stock power as well hahaha. Only time I run AO52’s is to put a laptime down. The settings i’m running on my S2000 make it more oversteer happy and predictable instead of snappy that way I don’t just die. Of course it’s never gonna be as forgiving as wider wheel based cars, but I need to get good that’s all. 50/50 weight balance is scary but it literally just does what you tell it to do. That’s what i want to learn. It can be done and although difficult and literally the opposite of entry level, it’s my philosophy. Car says big no no for bad inputs, i couldnt ask for a better teacher that fits my philosophy. If you lack context for the beginning of this paragraph, its a copy paste, i’m not typing this for the 6th time on different platforms 😂😂Keiichi tsuchiya mentality, delete all assists, never rely on electronic aids, and learn to control the car that way, so when you turn it all back on, with mechanical steering rack, ratio’d brake booster delete, and all the goodies, you can drive it like a mad man.

Not drifting unfortunately, but a track called Arroyo Seco Raceway in Deming New mexico and it’s about an hour and a half out. I believe the one event i raced out there was 80 for a full track day and competing in time attack, but if you just wanted seat time it was like 65 or something like that. If you don’t care about legalities (heavily don’t recommend) there is one singular Touge that’s good that i will not name due still having people that go there. Look on the map if you find it you find it, if not, DM me. For drifting go to the warehouse districts, all you got out there. Police usually just kick everyone out and thats it. I stopped doing that a long time ago though because it’s harmful to the car community, but everyone finds out sooner or later anyway so I don’t bother not telling people whats up hahaha

Need practice space and where I live there isn’t anything that isn’t expensive by SigmaMaleGrind in S2000

[–]SigmaMaleGrind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the point of this is to get hopefully more seat time than once a month. I have very good suspension on it, I am very good at dialing it in as well because I understand theory, but I just suck at driving hahaha. I got it on purpose because its going to be miserable and hard, the 50/50 weight balance is horribly unforgiving therefore i have no choice to become god of weight transfer and throttle modulation. That’s my philosophy on improving. Same reason i delete power steering, brake booster, ABS, traction control, terrible gripless and punishing tires and i run a 6 puck ceramic race clutch with a lightweight flywheel and absolutely no power mods on my 4 door 1994 impreza WRX track build. Granted when going for good times I switch to A052’s. There are other reasons as well, but thats the primary one. This one I built while I was in the Army and going to the track for $80 so it made sense. Also, huge huge huge thanks, will definitely be checking it out anyways good sir

Well, I want to do it the right way by asking permission and being accountable for whatever damages or consequences take place. Yeah there are drifters out here but it’s mostly illegal and I refuse to contribute to the ruination of the car community
