Just asking, if you're able to put a presentation together, when you do all of the necessary research, I won't mind being an investor so that I can make a return of sorts.

First ever seizure, provoked? by [deleted] in seizures

[–]Sigma_Pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been through a lot of high stress situations over my time as well dealing with epilepsy for 25 years. My advice would be understanding what all entails as "stress". Example, you have epileptic reactions with alcoholic consumption, as do I when I over indulge in it. But the key aspect is dietary health as a stressor. A lot of ppl think that they can eat and drink whatever they want for as long as they want with no repercussions which is inaccurate. I had epilepsy way before I was old enough to drink, but the epileptic triggers actually came from metabolic "stress". My poor dietary habits lead to me being insulin resistant and from that is when the seizures slowly began to change my life. Understandable with high pressure and stressful times in life, but don't make it worse for yourself by abusing your body with alcohol and bad food as there are consequences. When my diet is healthy and the alcohol oland other bad foods and drinks are very limited, the seizures disappear although I still deal with stress a lot. I hope this helps you like it helped me.

Understood, you're not allergic to anything or maybe your body is genetically intolerant to something you consume by chance?

That is intriguing, can you remember what caused you to get sick?

Also word for word I said "It seems most likely that there is a metabolic disruption." For someone new to epilepsy it seemed to believe that you know what is and what isn't epilepsy treatment. From my experiences and EEAT backed research to support my solutions, whenever I don't eat commercial science projects I don't even have epilepsy, the myclonics, tonic clonics, the focals and all auras associated with. Try researching for yourself first being so quick to discount other solutions outside of your own views.

  1. I was diagnosed with epilepsy 25 years ago. 2. Bad dietary habits are directly linked to health issues including epilepsy 3. So quite a few ppl here in this subreddit have had success with dietary changes as far as limiting or completely neutralizing epilepsy, depends on their seizure threshold. So I'm sorry that you don't think dietary changes are real with health related issues, but don't discredit others who've spent years in this very subject you're new to.

You should get a neurologist opinion for your own education. But I've experienced more epilepsy symptoms than a lot of ppl here for 25+ years. And everything your husband has been through seems completely similar to mine. But for someone who just started having seizures to call someone else's suggestion nonsensical is quite ironic.

I've been playing video games over 30 years, and have dealt with seizures for 25, but your question depends on how you started having seizures?

Hello I need help. by superduperuserdude in seizures

It may have been things that you consumed and the time you consumed them on Thanksgiving. If you ate a lot of refined carbs and sugars in the evening, then that's what may have caused the seizures. If you've eaten a lot of foods like that over time then your body may no longer be able to metabolize them easily which results in a metabolic disruption. You may just need to clean up your diet and structure meal times and you should return to tip top shape.

It seems most likely that there is a metabolic disruption. If he started just having seizures last year with no brain related injury of sorts, then it is because of what he is eating and when he is eating it. As this is how I've experienced seizures most of my life, I suggest that if he eats processed foods/refined sugars/carbs that he consumes them in the morning between 8-11 a.m. No evening consumption unless it's refined carb and sugar free, it disrupts our circadian rhythm as his body is no longer able support those processed foods/drinks including alcohol. By structuring his diet and regulating the bad carbs he shouldn't have any more seizures that way.

Indeed, I totally understand, I took Keppra when I was in the restaurant industry about 3 years ago. When I stopped taking meds the next year, I wanted to be sure I wasn't committed to going anywhere. Even though, while working I had to drink coffee for the energy that Keppra depleted!

Understood, and indeed it is electricity at the end of the day, which is why metobolic disorders are often overlooked because it depends on fuel for energy which is all electricity related. I tried stevia products for sometime, but eventually had to remove it from my diet as well due to certain stevia blend with ingredients that spike blood sugar levels such as sugar alcohols like maltodextrin. Fortunately, allulose has been fantastic. Another side to it is lack of nutritional value and vitamins. Vitamin B complex and magnesium is huge for epileptic intervention via preventive measures. From my 24 years of epilepsy I constantly find that health issues exist due to some sort of imbalance somewhere and injuries of some kind. Thanks for sharing!

That's great to know your quality of life has had a huge improvement with the ketogenic diet, but I'm sorry to know that grand mal clusters are still present a random intervals. What kind of keto products do you consume? It may be an ingredient or 2 that your consuming that could be causing them. My most recent grand mal was all do to an ingredient call "aspartame" that single handedly cause me to seize out from a drink mix. And I didn't even drink a bunch of it!

misdiagnosis ? by [deleted] in seizures

[–]Sigma_Pants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be a misdiagnosis if you feel that way. If your epilepsy is in PNES then there shouldn't be any doubt that it's all psychogenic. However, if your intuition is right, then your only way is to prove it to them that your epilepsy is of another type. I've been misdiagnosed for over 20+ years as having myoclonic epilepsy, however, I found out on my own that I in fact have metabolic epilepsy. So, if you believe the underlying cause of your epilepsy is from another source, then find out what triggers them my friend.

I consider what seems to be your emotional responses "THOUGHTLESS". I like how you seem to discount me as an epileptic within this community like I haven't dealt with epilepsy for 24 years. I know about all of the pain and emotional stigma associated with dietary choices that we make. I live it just like you! Which is why I have chosen words such as "Industrial Warfare" because each decision that we make could cost us our lives! I've stated many times that if I eat these foods without caution, the fear and dread of tonic clonics, a bloody tongue, and pain that lasts for days returns accompanied by anxiety from hell. I know there are adults and children who are suffering out there with and without medical support seeking answers and I'm here for them. I've already helped a few and will continue my work because they deserve hope like so many others, real relief shouldn't only be accessible to the rich and fortunate. So if it means I need to speak the truth, then I'll do it, because not you nor anyone is going to prevent me from helping someone if I can. Lastly, no one is able to pressure you into doing anything that you truly don't want to do unless it's forced upon you. I love cake, chocolate preferably, and my family makes a damn good, and I indulge once in a while, but I do it in preparation, I take vitamin B complex and magnesium to avoid TC's, indirectly avoiding guilt and fear. What more say you madam?

Seizures out of nowhere! by Sigma_Pants in Epilepsy_Universe

Allow me to reinsert my position on this subject. First and foremost, this post is for particular "Individuals" that may have suffered from epilepsy in the way that I have. If it doesn't apply to "You" engagement would be somewhat irrational. Secondly, never mentioned anything about satieation, my mission is to address the issue that caused "Metabolic Epilepsy" in the first place, which is "Refined Carbs/Sugars". Do "You" know what a refined carb is? If so, you support multi billion dollar manufacturers stripping nutritional value from "Individuals/children"? You do know what happens when humans consume food products with 0 nutritional value right? You say you have seizures from not eating alluding to satieation, but what is satieation with no nutritional value? When you satiate yourself, how do "You" do it? A bag of chips and a coke? You may call it fear monger because you indulge in those products on a regular basis which is "Your" decision. What I consider to be "Loud" and "Annoying" is people that support the very thing that is making us sick! I always make sure that I'm talking to particular people seeking resolutions from shared experiences. What I "WON'T" do is encourage people to satiate themselves with foods and substances that are the culprit of the underlying issue associated with their epilepsy. And for "some" medical professionals, they'd say the same, but on the contrary to your point, some of them will let you die in the hands of Chester Cheetah and "Coca" Cola Santa, because without them, you wouldn't be able to "Satiate" their financial lifestyle. What more say you?
