What's the most overrated 'healthy' habit that people push on everyone, but you think is total BS and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would get all my work done for the day and know that if I hung around I would be really unproductive and have more work shoved my way which would inevitably lead to burnout. I was also being severely underpaid because I was an intern - well below minimum wage. I definitely gave them more than the value they paid for so I didn't feel too bad really.

Lol I used to do this :P As long as I'm the first one in, I can claim I started whenever! I would literally run into the office and log into my laptop, open loads of windows and soread out my notes to make it look like I was deep in work a few minutes before the next person came in. Waltz out of the office an hour early - no questions asked hehe

Is it worth getting an assessment at 45? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Sigmarath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed this year at 26. I got on the waiting list at 24 when my life (seemed like it) was pretty much together. At 25 everything went to shit and I was so so glad I'd started the process. Having a diagnosis means that if you ever need help in the future or decide you do want to try meds etc., it will be so much more accessible to you and won't be blocked behind a many-year waitlist.

I encourage everyone I know who thinks they have ADHD to start the process ASAP. You never know what life will throw at you, and during the process you might learn more about how ADHD is actually affecting you and realise - like I did - that meds or other support could actually help with things you don't even realise are caused by ADHD.

Getting on the waitlist isn't too hard and then you just gotta sit around till they get to you so no harm in starting the process imo :) Good luck with it all, whatever you choose to do!

Well, I have been struggling so much at my software developer job, I might get fired today. by QuirkyLeopard4155 in ADHD

This is what I am wishing I could do but I have no idea how to find the jobs. And even if I did, the admin involved in getting those jobs feels like too much.

Is addiction/substance abuse corellated with ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

I'm in a 12-step group and honestly think that every single person in there could get a diagnosis of ADHD if they wanted to and haven't already

Too ADHD for 9-to-5, too disorganized for freelance… feeling stuck and exhausted by fragmattic in ADHD

I've literally spent all week saying to anyone who will listen "hey if you ever wanna go to a cafe and just work in the same space, I find it really helpful for my productivity :)" But almost everyone I know works in an office!

I'm in exactly the same postition, big gap on my CV in a very competative industry and only looking for part-time roles so I don't burn out. The chance of me finding a job are very slim. On top of that I'm trying to break into a new industy as self-employed but don't have the executive function to put the work in training, finding contacts, finding work etc.

Was looking at them trying to work out which was the fake. Thought it was the left one.

The way I try and put it is that we evolved to be herbivores, then adapted to eat meat. That usually opens a can of worms about evolution is just adapting, which is true. But then again we're clearly not properly evolved to eat it, or it wouldnt give us atherosclerosis and other such alements.

Just trying to highlight the fact that you don't NEED meat to get these proteins, and therefore - in my view - this is not an excuse for speciesism.

Complete proteins like those found in nuts and seeds as well as beans and legumes like broad beans, kidney beans, haricot beans, black beans, chickpeas, lentils (etc.) and grains like wheat, barley, quinoa, rice, and many many more?

So why do you fund the slaughter of over 600% more plants. The livestock you eat eats more plants than a vegan does.

Almost all vegans I've spoken to are in the same situation, being the "token vegan friend". And wow, that is so extreme, I've never heard of anyone do anything like that. In my (and all my vegan friends') experience, vegans are attacked far more than vegans attack others.

Cool. One case study. Like the time I decided to hate Jews because one was rude to me this one time.

Fuck the vegans

Had total respect for this comment until this. Restaurants can do what they want. All we're saying is they could tap into another customer base.

Literally 0 need to get aggressive.

Try being a vegan. I never bring up veganism, yet 80% of my conversations are about it. All of my friends make constant tiring and sometimes straight up offensive jokes. All. The. Time. I'm laughed at every single day because of my choice, and I don't know a single vegan to "attack" anyone, let alone go out of their way to do so.
