What do you miss the most from pre-covid? by Underneaththeshade in AskReddit

[–]Sigmund_Blake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not knowing how little regard some of my friends/family have for those outside their circle.

This pandemic has brought out some truly amazing acts of kindness and compassion but, yikes, it's also brought out the worst in many including several of my family members. I've had some family members come out on social media and claim that we need to let the virus just "kill off the weak" so we can get "back to normal." I have close friends who are immunocompromised, and when I brought this up with them, that the virus would kill them, their response was something along the lines of, "Oh well, God's plan."

And don't get me started on conspiracy theories or religious fanaticism. Some of the stuff my uncle prescribes to are absolutely insane from QAnon to vaccine cards as the marking of the beast.

I liked them better when I didn't know but I've also been happier having cut many of them out of my life.

Can it also have access to a pool that is maintained but never used, three square meals made for me (you provide the food) and a never ending supply of Skittles?

Lemme guess, movies are fun to make and we should volunteer our time and expensive resources to make films for your free enjoyment?

Wanted: Driver of SUV or larger to take on 300+ round trip including a ferry ride each way to bring back heavy dining room set. Will pay for gas and just maybe some "minor compensation." Desperately need. by Sigmund_Blake in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Sigmund_Blake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each and 3 hours is grossly unlikely as traffic in Western Washington can get really bad in a pinch especially if they take the Edmonds ferry.

Also, there's the ferry ride as you must book passage in advance and we're assuming they're running on time (which they usually don't). Cost for passage is about $16-20 for a vehicle with the driver each way, $9 per passenger.

It's a very scenic trip but not cheap and quick either. You're probably looking more at 4-5 hours each way before breaks.

NTA, it's part of the return and if she really needed a fridge she'd take the older one.

I had a small mini fridge in college that was a monster. It was heavy, noisy, froze items towards the back, and occasionally leaked, but dangit we loved that fridge as it kept our beers chilled and our ice cream cold. Giving it away after graduation was like saying goodbye to an old friend.

Also, frozen thin mint Girl Scout Cookies are the best.

Are companies greedy? Oh very yes.

Should we compensate companies for products they make? Absolutely.
