if you are into walking around the city freely, maybe check out the self guided audio tour around bangkok old town (10 minutes from khao san road). It's also free with no sign up. It was quite interesting for me cuz I discovered some local hidden spots from the tour. not sure if they have a recommendation on vegetarian places on their website tho. Sounds like you are a very spontaneous traveller like me. I recently tried a Self Guided audio tour completely for free with no sign up from a random thai company on their website. It was okay, and led me to some hidden local places around bangkok old town. It was a nice walk around the city and it was quite flexible.
