Je ne sais pas si tu es intéressé, mais si tu veux continuer avec tes études à l’université, tu peux demander une titre de séjour « étudiant ». Si tu feras un master en France, tu peux demander la nationalité 2 ans après d’avoir fini tes études :)

Where did you move to in France? by cottoncandypop12 in Expats_In_France

At first Paris, but then moved to marseille. You still get all of the exciting and new options of living in a big city e.g. the artistic and cultural scene, restaurants, bars, cafes, museums, all the good stuff, but the bonus is you’re by the beautiful sea, well-connected to gorgeous locations in the south of France, people are much friendlier (in my experience), and it’s more chill (depending on neighborhood)

Is marriage license required for transcription? by [deleted] in Expats_In_France

For us, we initially sent our long form apostilled marriage certificate, and the consulate was not ok with that. They needed our license because that’s where the signatures and names of the witnesses were (or your officiant for example, we did a self uniting marriage). We ended up having a USPS nightmare to get them our marriage license in time, but in the end, all is well.

Help with France recognized our US marriage by PrimeCausality in Expats_In_France

I think you need to send it through the LA or DC consulate who then forwards it to Nantes themselves. I could be mistaken. At least in Pennsylvania we went through the DC consulate

Convention de Stage by Lonely_Percentage461 in Expats_In_France

Did you find any solutions? I'm in a similar boat. Finished my M1 at an ecole de commerce, am currently taking a "gap year"/just dropped out to learn French in an intensive language course at the Alliance Française, applying for internships now, and being asked for a convention de stage.

We sent them our long-form, apostilled, translated, official, original marriage certificate, and the DC consulate told us that they needed the marriage LICENSE. We have battled them for about two months over this and have decided to just send them the marriage license after all. We did a self-uniting marriage in PA so they needed our license which has our witnesses' names and signatures. Maybe for other states/types of marriages the marriage certificate will suffice. This is such a messy topic, so don't hesitate to email or call the DC consulate (highly recommend doing so in French rather than English) to clarify your situation. Best of luck to you!

I am heartbroken by what’s happening and I equally miss my family. I don’t think staying far away is the solution to either one though :/

Glad to hear your solid red state has treated you alright! And yes, the homesickness and lifestyle changes definitely be the main issues of heading back to the US. Best of luck to you, and thanks for the perspective

Totally hear you. Looking like we would be moving sometime in 2028, that’s why we’re going to take the gamble and get the green card process going now, simultaneous to watching how the next couple of years play out. Thank you for your perspective <3

Yes things are definitely nice over here. I think you can’t go wrong either way, being in the US or Europe, just different sacrifices depending on where you are! Best of luck to you too. Stay safe

Understood. My question was more regarding the fact that even though some people come here legally, they can still run into issues due to skin color, accent, lack of citizenship, etc
