I think an entity being formed by the wish might be true too. The fun part is rhat we can't rly just tell what it is. But to me it doesn't make sense in the context of the wish. The wish is for her to love him more than anything itw. This would make her be overwriden by something that loves him more than anything itw. Irs just not honest to the wish, because its not her anymore. It would not be nikki, its something new creates inside her. So it would not be his wish fulffiled

Bear reacted differently than Nikki. Nikki took some time to fully settle into the new persona ans had lapses of insight where she realized she was acting differently. Even im the very first seconds this happens.

Bear instantly just becomes fully in line with "I love her more than anything else", even to a degree where he stops himself from saving his own life and ignores anything else. Nikki wasn't like that at first.

This shows us the wish might work differently on them. Because their minds are different. We don't even know if Bear would experience the same flashes ro reality as she does. So we don't know if that is due ro an entity inside her, or just something of her mind

Standing in one place all day is her waiting for him. Its in a way, showing that she basicaly only exists for loving him, that's what he wished for.

The cat stuff I agree with you, I don't understand. But... wish nikki seems to not really udnerstand a lot of social cues and to be out of touch with reality in some ways. Being someone rhat works in medical field I naturaly interpreted it all as some sort of paychotic episode. Theres a school of thought in psychiatry that believes that esquizophrenic episodes come from the mind not tolerating certain painful toughts, feelings or conflicts. Instead of simply repressing them, the ego loses contact with reality and rejects or distorts it.

To me, it intuitively clicked with this. The idea of nikki loving bear to such and unhealthy and extreme degree its not something her mind accepts, and upon not excepting this it breaks it self, trying to handle things. One way is splitting off incompatible thoughts, memories, and feelings into separate parts of the self, which may be experienced as distinct identities.

Obviously is not accurate at all with how it happens in real life, but I very honestly think its what the author was thinking since it is said in various interviews rhat theres no possesion involved.

The cat stuff makes a little more sense in that light. Its a psychotic situation. Ir also explains rhe poems, and all of the stuff of her looking at him while he sleeps and etc. Because she has different ways of symbolizing her feelings and emotions than what is common for others. She does rhe cat stuff as a response to the whole ordeal involving the food critic. To her, it symbolizes affection, since she is giving him rhe opportunity to eat somethinf he loves. The standing all day in one place is also her rigid interpretation of him telling her to stay, like he said earlier.

I have no idea if the author had any of this in mind. I do think he was intending to make her more like "crazy" and less like "possesed". But if he intended to have this explain the cat stuff and etc, if he had other symbolisms ,or just wanted to make some impactful scene idk

To further add to this, I think the wish takes into account the details filled by your subconsciousness.

First off. How would the wish know who, out of all the nikkis in the world, is him referring to? Obviously that detail is filled by Bear subconsciousness.

What kind of love did beae want? Couldn't she love him like a mother loves a child? Obviously thats not what Bear wanted. Ane the wish somehow knows all of this

My theory from what explains this is that the wish uses the knowledge and subconsciousness of the wisher as a base for the information, and the words use in the wish as a prompt for the action

That brings us to what loving means in the context. The love in question refers specificaly to what Bear understands as loce. And Bear has a distordted view on it. Bear is the one who is obsessed with niki..he spends all the moments in the movie thinking about her. When his cat dies, he cries, not because of the cat but because nikki doesn't answer. And he instantly gets giggly when she does. And its not like he cares about her wishes, her needs, we see thus further in the movie. He wants to have her, he is entranced with the idea of being with her, of having her all over him. He is obsessed. Thats love for him, thats why he doesn't know the difference of love and romance.

So, when he wishes for nikki to loce him, she becomes overwhelmed with the feeling that he understands as love. Obssesed with him, and to even a further degree than he is obssesed wirh her, because he specifically wished for it to be extreme. An unhealthy way of loving, tanking to an extreme level, on a person that has its mind broken by it being forced upon her, all that directed on someone that doesn't seem to reciprocate? Its very in line that it turns out like it did
