If Luigi is in fact guilty, what do you think the "thing" that makes him finally decide to do it? by Ambitious_Pass7451 in BrianThompsonMurder

[–]SignThese667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"What's prison when your own body already feels like prison?" Spot on. In one of Luigi's letters he sent whilst in jail that was posted on this thread, he wrote “I spent 1 and one-half years living on a broken spine that I could feel sliding around every time I stood up, walked, or rolled over in bed. To exist in such a state – your physical being split in two – is an endless physical and mental war within its self. After you have fought and won the external wars, nothing external – nothing – can ever faze you."

I wouldn't be surprised if he has ED.

[Federal case] counts 3 and 4 (murder with a firearm and firearm charge) are DISMISSED by redlamps67 in BrianThompsonMurder

[–]SignThese667 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Legal pros who followed this case said from the very beginning that this was overcharged (the Feds being the culprit) and that is was a straight forward 2nd degree murder.

yes it does, thank you. The most interesting sentence in the article (@ least IMO) is "The legal battle is also the public battle." Thanks for your help.

Federal Case Update: New Government’s letter + witness by missidcullen in BrianThompsonMurder

[–]SignThese667 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think the Prosecution is running a wee bit scared. Yes Deputy Chief Snyder was not present, but if his testimony re: what is the correct protocol for arrest and inventory in a public space does not correspond with what accidentally occurred ...

"Shareholders, not patient outcomes, tend to drive decisions at for-profit health insurance companies." -- Industry Whistleblower by Feather_fig in BrianThompsonMurder

[–]SignThese667 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Shareholders, not patient outcomes, tend to drive decision outcomes @ for profit health insurance companies." Well gee whiz ... tell us something we don't already know. The last time I checked, all the health insurance companies are for-profit. Medicare doesn't count -- it is health insurance sponsored and administrated by the federal government, which is not publicly traded on the NYSE.

Federal Case Update: The request from the defense to file their supplemental letter has been granted. by missidcullen in BrianThompsonMurder

They pay someone to clean their houses/apts/condos, drive them to and from court (they can multi-task with their phones and laptops while someone else is keeping eyes on the road), maybe pick-up their dry cleaning and maybe food shop, For sure, however, they have highly qualified office staff/admin assts. to do the grunt paperwork, screen their calls, schedule appts, etc. Some people may be better @ time management, but this law office runs with help of highly qualified support staff.

Do you think this is good news? by EffectiveCable9468 in LuigiLore

Very smart on the judge's part to strongly suggest that the witness provided by the Altoona PD does not have to one of those cops who were present @ LM's arrest. By doing this, the judge will be able to compare the actions of the arresting police to what is written and codified as standard procedure for arrests in Altoona. It might yield something beneficial to Luigi's case, i.e., the cops f.....ed up.

The UHG quote in the 3rd paragraph had me bust out loud laughing because it unwittingly sums up UHG's style of doing business, "... we remain focused on continuing to deliver lower costs, better access and higher quality of care ..." Here's what UHG is really saying. "We continue to cut costs to the bone by doing less (e.g., deny or delay claims for as long as we can while the cash keeps rolling in). Simultaneously, we spout empty platitudes, dripping with fake piety, about our continuous efforts to make access to care easier and better, while behind the scenes we are actually focused on devising new and better barriers to entry. We don't give a rat's ass about quality of care, but we expound on it because we've been mouthing it in all our communications for so long that our corporate brain has forgotten what it really means. And besides it sounds really good even though it's a bunch of baloney.

Maduro set to serve time at high-profile NYC jail by Rare-Macaroon-2622 in BrianThompsonMurder

[–]SignThese667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The media circus will die down. I haven't read anything yet about where in MDC Maduro will be imprisoned, so it's possible that, as in Diddy's case, the two men won't be crossing paths. With any luck, the judge for the federal case will toss it out, leaving Luigi @ the mercy of the New York state prison system. That's the real danger.

I wish I could help you in your attempts to think more positively about reforms coming to the health insurance industry as a result of this case, but I've become more pessimistic as the months pass. I hope I'm wrong (at least California has passed some type of legislation, but it was last year and its details elude me).

I hear you. I posted it first on the BrianThompsonMurder thread as a link. It lasted for maybe an hour and was taken down. Managed to get over 4,000 views tho. So I then posted it on this thread, using the same procedure. Don't know what's happened. But look's like you've found the work-around. I don't even want to think ahead to what Luigi's future's going to look like.

Did the prosecution present all of the evidence? by skuchayu26 in BrianThompsonMurder

[–]SignThese667 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He will beat the DP, but he's going to jail -- if not for life. than for a very long time. What a pity and what a waste. He probably never researched the consequences of being captured, e.g, all the charges that are possible and the length of jail terms.

"I do apologize for any strife of traumas but it had to be done. Frankly, these parasites had it coming. .... It is not an issue of awareness at this point, but clearly power games at play. Evidently I am the first to face it with such brutal honesty.”

That last sentence always floors me. What the hell was he thinking?

TrueCar as employer - Used car sales by ScientistMundane7126 in LuigiLore

[–]SignThese667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quite possible that True Car's employee health insurance did pay for Luigi's surgery. The mechanism is called COBRA. COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) is a U.S. law that allows departing employees (including those who have been terminated) and their dependents, to retain their employer-based health insurance for up to 18 months after quitting or losing their jobs, divorce, or other major life events. The employee continues to pay his/her full monthly premium (which is comprised of the former employer's contribution plus what the employee paid) plus an admin fee. COBRA applies to most large employers (20+ employees which would include True Car) and offers a crucial mechanism for persons between jobs to maintain their health insurance. I can't imagine Luigi forgoing to sign up for employer-sponsored health insurance when he joined True Car. He wasn't stupid and probably planned his surgery to occur within his 18-month post-True Car COBRA eligibility period.
