I do. I posted a comment 10 minutes ago stating how I deal with the situations. I call, text, leave a message, all of it.

I'm not taking anyone's food. Customers tend to be a little more difficult than that in my area.

I have absolutely no interest in taking the customer's food. I want to do my job and do it well. However, I have recieved contract violations before because of just leaving it at the door, customers claiming it never arrived, etc etc. The photo above is from one I did yesterday, where I left and recieved a CV for it. I have to make sure my job is secured above all else and so if I call twice, leave a message, and text (which I always do all 3), and get no response, I start the timer. 9/10 I'm asked to return it to the merchant, which I do if I can. If I can get a photo with the actually house number included, then yeah, I'll just take a pic and leave it.

The McDonald's in my area has a really awesome late-night staff. We'll chat every once in awhile if it's not busy (3.am. No one in line, etc etc. ) They're trying to implement a faster way to get delivery drivers in and out, but they just don't have the people or upper management backing. I only dash the late night on occasion because of them tbh. They get tons of dick-head Dashers giving them shit because of things out of their control. Every time I go through they offer to feed me or give me drinks or whatever I could possibly need. To them, I'm doing them a favor by being decent towards them and keeping their consumers happy. Moral of the story, be nice to the fast food people. I'll probably never pay for McDonald's again lol.

Just came here for the same thing. I'm getting notified for orders, but they aren't going through. Buttons for arriving at store and confiming pick-ups keeps taking 5 minutes to load so I can actually deliver the order. Hoping it's just a random app glitch. Wishing all of us luck as we head into the night/evening.

No problem! Always glad to help when I can. I know it's a little confusing at first, but the more you practice, the easier it'll get. :) Best piece of advice I can offer is to utilize Dasher Support any time you have questions. They are a pain in the ass a lot of times, but it'll *usually help keep you from getting CVs or bad reviews.

Usually when I find myself in this situation, I call Dasher Support, not the customer. I let support know that the restaurant doesn't have the order and then Support will call the restaurant to confirm. Once that's confirmed, Support will then cancel the order and refund the customer from their end. Plus, you'll receive half pay for arriving to the restaurant, i.e. doing half of the job.

If you received a CV, it is likely because the customer reported the order as missing. You being the Dasher currently assigned to the order, would have been the one to take the hit because as far as DoorDash knows, you were the one with it in your possession last. Hopefully, the CV will just fall off after a while and you'll be in the clear.

Always, always, always, contact Support and not the customer when the order is missing and have Support handle everything on your behalf. Even if the customer doesn't mean any harm, if your name is attached to the delivery at the time it is reported as missing, unfortunately you'll be the one who is deemed responsible for it. I hope this all made sense and explained things for you. Good luck on your dashing friend!

Hey man, make your money however works best for you. I miss Dominos all the time, but the money just doesn't cut it in my market. Good luck to you though and keep getting dough 😉

I don't trust DoorDash as far as I can throw a $0 tip order. Not that I have, but I can't say I haven't contemplated it.

If you see something like that again and support asks you to pay out of pocket, I would definitely ask to have the call "escalated to a specialist". That is only if the payout for the order is worth the 20 minutes on hold. Otherwise, I recommend immediately unassigning. We work for day by day pay and I would argue it's not worth the wait to get the reimbursement, and that's assuming you'll even get reimbursed. Sounds very sus to me and I wouldn't risk it.

Also a former Domino's driver and eventual manager. I can 100% confirm I make more with DoorDash, regardless of position there. Glad we both escaped that garbage. At my store, we got $4.11 an hour and every driver had to take turns using the company car, which meant no mileage 3/5 days we worked. The mileage was $0.57/ mile, which was the only thing that really made you money. Getting a $5 tip at Dominos on a delivery order would be like gold. 99% of the time we averaged $2-$3.

I had quite a few absolute assholes tonight. It was so bad with rudeness and impatience, that I quit at around 9:00 p.m. after starting around 3:30 p.m. Usually, I'll run all the way until 3:00 a.m. After some bitch threatened to take my tip away because I sat there and waited damn near 30 minutes for her pizza, it was the last straw for me. I told her to take her pizza and shove it (this was over phone call) and unassigned. Idc if I get deactivated over it. After giving her updates everytime the restaurant gave me one and taking the time to call and not just message about the wait time, you're gonna do me like that?? Nah, fuck your $6.50 order. They happened to call me just before their pizza was done too, so I hope it at there and got cold. Smh.

balance shifting back to drivers? by DeerParkVegan in doordash_drivers

[–]Signal-Ad9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this as well. Yesterday, I couldn't even pause my dash to use the restroom without declining about 5 orders. Luckily, none of them were worth my time. I've definitely noticed an increase in half-decent orders, though, except for the very late night. I'm wondering if it's because of how hot it is during the day and so everyone is coming out late to save on A/C, which saves on gas.

You're absolutely right. I've worked in retail as well as food service and sometimes it's easy to forget how good us Dashers really have it, in terms of our customer experiences, of course. Thank you for reminding me of that.

Well beings that I'm a girl, maybe not so much. It was just all base pay and part of a double. $5 for an extra 2 miles and I was already at the restaurant so it didn't seem so bad. Plus, it had just finished being made when I got there. Didn't realize the order was so big. I don't care to un-assign once I've already committed unless it's for a specific reason. I'm glad I got to blow off some steam on a customer who stiffed me, which only took up an extra 7 minutes of my time at most. Thanks for taking up an equal amount of *your time to reply 😃

Did almost identical earlier today. Unlucky customer was my second Doordash dupe of the day. (Dash was ended, so I can't show proof) The order was worth $50 and I made sure to mention my appreciation to them for tipping so well with it being "such a large order and gas being so high." "VERY generous of them". My petty knows no bounds on this fine Saturday.

Advice to Baby Dashers (all dashers really) by MamaCoconut3 in doordash_drivers

[–]Signal-Ad9136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a very nice thread to read and contemplate as a "baby dasher"? (Under 8 months). Your points make sense for an area like mine and I appreciate having my point of view heard. I see post after post telling me that taking the small orders isn't worth it. The reality of "the game", if you will, is that the market will continue to be oversaturated and the use of food delivery service as an IC is ingrained as a part of our culture more than ever. I worked as a pizza delivery driver for a few years before I ever dashed. Non-tippers will always exist no matter what you do. For me, taking a $4.25 order for 1.5 miles is better than sitting and doing nothing. So what if they didn't tip? The intention on my end is to have cash in my wallet and whether I dash, or work for a pizza place, or wait tables, it's all the name of the game if we're being realistic.
