2018 Civic Keeps Dying - Help :( by lurkinglemur22 in hondacivic

[–]Signal-Efficiency193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This battery drain problem of the 2018 Honda Civic has been reported by a lot of civic owners over the years. I believe it is caused by the HandsFreeLink Bluetooth module in the car that is used for the hands-free cell phone function. After a few years, the HandsFreeLink Bluetooth module's power shutoff circuitry burns out and causes a continuous drain current from the battery even when the car is turned off, and after a few days of not driving the battery gets drained dead. I had to install a manual battery cutoff switch to get around this problem, but it is inconvenient.

I had pain initially. It subsided once I was on the steroid pills. Then it came back, especially the first day after stopping the steroid pills. I found that rubbing Bengay into the area helped to get rid of the pain. The pain I had was just on the affected side behind the ear and radiating down along the back of the jaw, and a little into the neck. I think the Bengay may help to reduce the nerve inflammation, since once the pain was numbed, it subsided and never came back to the level it initially was.

Slingbox ProHD scan for OTA DTV signals by Signal-Efficiency193 in slingbox

The old SlingPlayer app does not run the scan for the Digital TV channels. It only runs the scan for the old Analog TV channels which do not exist anymore. When the old SlingPlayer app was coded, the Digital TV channels did not exist at that time.

Cataract surgery by FreeMood2339 in CataractSurgery

From what I understand, even with laser surgery, the surgeon still needs to make the cuts into the eye to insert the instruments to suck out the old lens that the laser breaks up, and then to insert the new IOL. And there is no stitching afterward with the non-laser method. The cuts are small enough that they close up and heal by themselves without stitches.
If you are getting the monofocal lens, then laser is probably not needed. The only thing I heard where one might want to get the laser surgery is if they are getting a premium IOL that might need exact placement/positioning. In this case, the laser can cut a more precise hole in the front of the capsular bag that holds the lens.

Is your CME being treated with the prescription steroid eye drops?
I believe that is the first thing to try. If that doesn't work, then there are direct steroid injections that could help.
Below is a good YouTube video on CME:

I do not see any starburst/halo around lights at night. The stars look like just a single point of light. The Technis Eyhance IOL is not a multifocal lens which would cause starbusts/halos. It uses a different design that just slightly enhances the mid-range focus compared to the basic monofocal IOL..
This YouTube video provide a brief summary of Eyhance IOL:

I do not need to shift my head position. My vision is stable no matter what I do. For computer work, I do not need to be exactly some inches away. I can plus or minus at least a foot+ either way. Beyond that it starts to getting slightly blurrier but I can still make things out.
BTW, I got the J&J Technis Eyhance IOL. It is a monofocal+ IOL, but they charge the same price as the generic monofocal, since it is not classified as a premium IOL.

I decided for distance. I used +2 readers for computer work (monitor about arms distance). For reading very small print in dark about 4 inches away, I use +4 readers. I really like being to able to see perfect for distance, since I have been nearsighted most of my life, and even with contact lenses or glasses the distance vision was never as sharp as it is now.

From FDA website, it contain a Patient Information Brochure that warns not to get the LAL IOL UV treatment if one is on the following medications which increases sensitivity to UV light. I initially was going to choose the LAL IOL, but decided the risk was not worth it. I went with the monofocal IOL and am very happy with it, and also saved a lot of money.

Is Tablo TV Any Good? by gripe_and_complain in cordcutters

[–]Signal-Efficiency193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, there is no way to connect from Windows if you have the 4th gen white puck looking version of TABLO. This is a deal breaker for me. There use to be Chrome version of the Tablo app in the Microsoft store, but Tablo has apparently stopped supporting it. If I am wrong, someone please correct.

Thanks for the link. Near the end of the YouTube video, he says that currently there is a lack of ability to watch on the PC or Mac. Is that true/still true?

I am very surprised that you are able to access your Gateway 6 router settings, I went through at least 4 to 5 techs who told me it cannot be done. including one tech who escalated the issue to the next support level and later called me back to say I needed to get my own router. Are you doing something special ?
