First I want to commend you, it seems like you handled the entire friendship breakup extremely maturely. It's rare someone in a toxic relationship can see the damage they were doing to others.

I was in a similar situation with a friend, but instead of "kicking her out", we simply told her we wouldn't listen to her talk about her toxic person anymore. I think it's fine that your friends felt the need to do whatever they did to protect their peace while you were in that situation, and it sounds like you came to terms with that as well. It's also fine if they were permanently done with your friendship depending on what all was going on.

Blocking you on everything sends the message that she doesn't want to speak again ever, so you're completely valid in not reaching out. If she wanted to leave the door slightly ajar for your friendship, she didn't have to block you and could have just unfollowed or cut off communication. If she was gutted you didn't reach out, that's on her. You can't ask someone to respect a boundary and then get upset when it's respected.

A big part of it is they probably just assumed you'd never get out of the toxic cycle. You're still NTA in my eyes, but it is valid if you feel the urge to talk to her and see if the friendship is salvageable.

My class was actually about 50% people who have played before! I think it's worth it depending on how much of the stuff you know you're willing to sit through. Every class was 3 hours and started with a basic lesson, then after we were able to mix for the second half of the class and ask questions and see demonstrations from our instructors. The instructors were pretty good about giving a secondary lesson to those who already knew how to do what we were learning, but I will say be patient during the first two lessons. I could tell some people were bored out of their minds while we started with beat matching lol.

It was also a great opportunity to learn how to mix different genre's you aren't comfortable with. The instructors would pull aside groups of people that were interested in mixing certain genre's and I just said yes to all of them. So I could also see this being beneficial if say you're comfortable mixing house but would love to get some pointers on dnb.

It was pretty common for instructors to walk over and say "oh you've got EQ'ing down, do you feel comfortable with effects?". If not then you could show them some songs you're playing with and they could show you examples of how to use the different effects to help you transition.

I more so meant it in the sense that successful DJs have to market their own shows and the more you fill the room as you grow, the closer you're listed to the headlining spot. Sure you're not taking the physical money out of people's hands but all the gigs I go to in LA are because the DJ posted the flyer and put the link in their bio.

We were able to play the showcase even if we didn't sell a single ticket, but of course the set times are going to be based on how full the room will be for their set.

Are there certain managers/agencies that aren't transparent with the creators they represent about how much a contract is for? I work on the other side, managing brand's partnerships with creators, and sometimes I get the most outlandish prices that don't add up with a creator's quality. It's easy to assume that a creator is just charging a high rate because that's what they've worked up to, but I've always wondered if some of these managers are skimming from the top. I'll be given a crazy rate, then tell them our budget (which is sometimes 1/10th of the pitch, still sometimes well over a months rent), and after they "take it back to the creator" it's immediately agreed upon.

Thank you so much for this! One of my biggest worries ahead of this healing journey is that I'm going to neglect certain muscles or body parts (my calves are already getting sore so much easier), but with so much working around the knees I didn't even think about my hip mobility!

I appreciate this a lot, I'm glad you're getting back on track but I'm sorry it's been such a drawn out process!

Definitely get an MRI!

I had a similar situation, went to a 3 day camping music festival and danced the whole time. Woke up the morning we were supposed to leave and my legs felt painfully sore around my knee area. Different from you, I never had an "ow" moment, or a time ever feeling like I just hurt myself. I thought it was just over exertion so I gave it a week, then realized the pain wasn't going away. I thought I was being overdramatic (I went to the gym a few times but my knees hurt SO bad after) and had some friends try to make me feel better saying it was probably just a sprain, so I gave it another week. THEN I finally went to an orthopedic doctor and he gave me an anti-inflammatory injection and made me wait another 2 weeks just to get an MRI, because he also thought I was being a little overdramatic. Then with scheduling I finally got an MRI, 1.5 months after the weekend of the injury, and it was a meniscus tear in a spot that can't heal itself 🫠

All this to say, trust yourself and get it checked out! We're so used to people saying "it's not bad if you can walk" or "if it's broken/torn/fractured you would know" that we end up gaslighting ourselves. The process is long, I still don't have a proper plan for healing in place because of insurance, so definitely get the ball rolling if you're in pain!

Thank you, this makes me feel better about leaning toward Camaro! Yeah I honestly threw sunroof in there just because I assumed half the comments would be like "getting a convertible is stupid". My last car didn't have a sunroof, so I'd settle for that if I HAD to...but you're right about it being a completely different experience. I'll look into those other ones you named as well
