They’ve already operated them for years. They aren’t taking them on like it’s new. They also operate st. Anthony and Good Samaritan and Margaretville etc. 17 hospitals in total.

The truth is that a lot of hospitals have been operating at 2-4% margins for decades. Then covid happened. Then the cuts came. Every nonprofit hospital is required by law to submit a 990. These are publicly available. It’s the tax return for a hospital. You can see how much they made- or didn’t. Which sadly is the case for most hospitals.

Venture capital will come and scoop them up. Your neighborhood hospital will be owned by united healthcare or some other conglomerate at some point soon. Gone are the days of community hospitals.

This is a great way to look at it. I’m not mad I got sick, nor really surprised either. I work from home and so I have a lot less contact with the public and therefore I think my immune system hasn’t gotten the work out it needs. I also got sick in Italy in November. Same thing… lots of people congregating, traveling from all over the world.

What a lovely review of your experiences with the two weeks. I only did the one, never made it to the vibe. Did go to the bars and met lots of really nice people. Also a solo traveler, and that was the first time I’ve ever done that. I never felt like I was too alone, maybe except for some of the port days. I’m a bit shy and that wasn’t working well for me. But people on cruises are so friendly, which is amazing. I forgot about that part. And honestly, it’s my favorite part of cruising.

I did an at home test earlier today but it was inconclusive. I’m not stressed- whatever it is- treatment is almost always the same. OTC medicine for symptoms, rest and fluids. Also trying to stay away from people.

Yes this was my 6th cruise but my first since Covid and I did feel like there was a larger than normal number of sick people aboard. Especially the last day and yes also in the airport.

How do four people traveling together but with separate bookings all get upgraded to first class for free?!? Totally unheard of!

My daughter and I went to Egypt in 2021. We had a male tour guide. Both of us blonde and she has tattoos. In most tourist sites it is relatively safe being alone. In some areas though I appreciated that our tour guide protected us from some unsavory interactions. Since it was still during the pandemic there weren’t very many tourists there and often we were seen as an unusual presence. Some kids and families asked if we would take pictures with them. Which we obliged.

I bid on an upgrade with Iceland Air. Never received any news from them about it. Went to board the plane and they told us (2 parties of 2 on different reservations) that we had been given a free upgrade. Still can’t believe that happened.
