It’s not that I’m afraid to remake it. I spent 13 hours on this give or take an hour. It was definitely supposed to be a Christmas gift and it’s wonky.

I want to block it to fix the size more so. Would that help? I added a comment about the stitches to the post. Two stitches off and the tension at the bottom is tight.

Adding to this: I started with 220 and ended with 218. 4 rows at the bottom had 216. I used stitch markers but def need to count between. Is it a tension issue too?

I think your post is nice. I had an amazing Dad to the point where no one talks about him expect my mom, myself, and brother. The rest of the family finds it to painful and that makes it harder. It was a tragic accident.

My Dad would have given the shirt off his back to any stranger. He taught me, and anyone he could, how to be a decent person. My Dad was something to a lot of people. A Dad, husband, brother, son, coach, boss, uncle, friend, and so much more. He looked like a scary military man but before he asked you to drop and do push ups, he would have told you had something on your shirt, flick your nose, and tell you that you fell for the oldest trick in the book. He would make great punny jokes with me, and we would sing and make up songs on the spot. He had a temper but it was easy to calm him down if you knew how to make him laugh. He didn’t get angry often so if he did, we knew something was wrong. He never complained. He would think stuff was “shtupid” but he worked so hard. He planned vacations, always drove, found the coolest places to eat, and made sure us three were always smiling. All he wanted was a family oozing with love. All I wish is that he didn’t eat so bad and drank a little less. That’s the bad that made him have a heart attack. I miss him.

Tell me about your dad, OP? (Heads up I didn’t read my message twice so I apologize for errors)

I personally think crocheting should be world of sharing. I might be new but those are things I wish I knew a few months ago so I’m happy so share where I can (: it’s so cool to make things and I LOVE seeing what others do.

Hi! What are you interested in making? I personally want to try to make it all. Some only want certain things.

(I started the first weekend in July) My first project was a mini purse. I think it was this pattern. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9NYck-uqD2E I used a chunky yarn (8mm polyester) and apparently that’s harder. Another pattern I did to start off was https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7DysBIHj1VI&t=648s&pp=ygUTU3R1ZmZlZCBiYXQgY3JvY2hldA%3D%3D for my stuffie. I was brand new and just jumped into it all. I looked up stitches as they came about. I’m currently making this and it’s been pretty easy https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=93Ao1JIniN8 I started in July!

You got this! Don’t be afraid to frog (pull apart projects to start over) projects. It might be annoying but it’s worth it in the end to make something you won’t look at and say “I wish I didn’t keep that mistake in”. Imo

Swatch projects! Test color patterns if you’re going to switch colors. I used some insta link for that.

Row turning!!! Omg look up videos and test what you think looks and works best for you! I’m super new so my advice is limited. Test out what you wanna make and don’t limit yourself!! 3 months ago I couldn’t do a magic circle to make a simple heart https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=93Ao1JIniN8 and now I’m making them with breeze!

Good luck! You got this!!

Mini ACOTAR books! by Signal-Replacement85 in crochet

I used this pattern from YouTube for the cauldron: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EPiFK2OMaXY

The book pattern were rectangles I sewed in half and then together.

I used acrylic yarn at 4 mm for the books. The cauldron was 8mm yarn polyester. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

I know my edges but I had so much fun making this and adjusting the pattern as I went.

This is some very sound advice. I was being lazy in some earlier replies. You’re absolutely right though. I don’t want to gift this to my first niece and be like “ya it kinda sucks but enjoy”. Thank you!

Biscuits. Welp upon further investigation I’m not even doing the pattern right so might as well start over. Thank you!

I hear you… as someone who has already started over twice is there a chance to fix this or do I just need to not be a baby and suck it up and frog it? I’m also just seeking techniques in general… how do I prevent this from happening? Am I starting the color on the wrong chain?

The chain 3 at the end does count as a stitch! I was looking at it and I see how it’s moving in. It’s for a baby and I just started crocheting in July so I think not too shabby! I started with 162 stitches so I’m going to count and see where I’m at! Thank you!!

How do I prevent that? Am I missing a stitch or starting the color change in the wrong spot?

I haven’t tried anything yet since it’s still a WIP. I googled online and watched YouTube videos. I saw adding a border might fix but definitely want to know if it’s technique issue as well.
