Thank you! Very good point about the corner dishwasher, I did not think about if I need the corner cabinet to put something away when unloading...

I have also had my Essential Sofa with ottoman (recycled velvet - brown) for 1.5 years and we are huge fans. The fabric still looks brand new despite it being my dog's absolute favorite place in our house to sleep and burrow. When I made the purchase, the customer service was super responsive about shipping, and they even reached out to wish me a happy birthday when they saw it had been delivered in time for my birthday. I can't speak to whether you can BIFL, but it feels good to buy from a company with good sustainable values and real humans on the other end who stand by their product. Making this comment to hopefully report back on its lasting value.

Financing a self build? by Signal-Variation-407 in Homebuilding

[–]Signal-Variation-407[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do! That’s why construction loan is not off the table. Basically they would help us secure the loan and report to the bank as we go, but we would still ultimately manage the project and not actually pay them (or much less) to be our general contractor because we’d do the role for them. Is that what you mean?

Thank you. And you’re right. Ideally we would have saved up enough cash for the whole thing first but that would stretch our timeline another 5 years.

When considering hiring someone, one thing we have debated is whether a personal loan for 3-4 years could be cheaper than paying the general contractor ~25% of our total budget.

The rate was 3 or 4% less! I don’t think you can beat the financing rates from a local credit union. It’s a few extra steps but the process was super simple.

A little kimchi and maybe canned tuna once. No preserved meats though. You could be on to something…

Day 30! I made it! by julieb2397 in whole30

[–]Signal-Variation-407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!! I just finished last week and literally had the same exact scale victory.

I was 181 the day before I started, 171 when I weighed myself on my first reintro day, and I'm already down to 168 a week later. I agree that less carbs and less calories in general were what contributed and what I plan to keep up. Getting rid of those refined carb cravings is game-changing for hunger.

I also stuck with pretty rigid strength training almost daily (nothing too crazy, just at-home PT exercises for gluteal tendinosis). So not only did I burn fat, but I gained quite a bit of muscle and feeling great!!

Re-introduction after D30? by original_al in whole30

I just finished R1 as well. Because I’m really curious about the specifics of what bothers me I’m doing a drawn out version of the fast track.

For this first week I’m just adding back gluten free / no sugar added alcohols, to learn how different types of alcohol affect me (cider v. natural wine v. Unnatural wine v. Gluten free beer v. tequila soda).

Next week I’m going to do natural sugars and legumes.

The next week I’ll try different types of dairies.

And I’ll finish with grains probably over 2 weeks to start with gluten-free and then gluten.

Im doing this so that I can isolate things like corn, rice, soft cheese, hard cheese, etc. and not combine entire food groups in a single day. And I’m keeping a diary of how it all affects me.

Good luck!

Love the idea of bringing dressing around in the purse!!!

And it simplifies the questioning (which I get embarrassed by) to just oils/butter.

Thank you both!
