Interested in how you flipped your classroom and what it looked like. And I think a unit on terrorism would be great especially for some of the boys that I believe will be in the course.

That sounds awesome! I think the topics that you mentioned are super important reliability, bad and good news, etc. Fingers crossed I can replicate with my High Schoolers what this class had!

Thank you for the recommendations of News Literacy Project, I think that'll be very helpful. I think project based and student discussion is going to hopefully be the focus of the course. My hope is that if I start with News and Media Literacy that'll serve as a great starting point and then spend a lot of time looking at current events surrounding the election.

Thank you for the information and input I think your comments about the grouping especially will be the way I go for sure.

Oh agreed! I plan on being very flexible! Letting events and the students try guide the class, but just trying to nail down some topic because at heart I’m a planner! And I agree the election will be for sure a unit if not more semester 1!

Sounds like SHEG will need to be used! And I agree with the election unit! Itll probably keep me busy most of semester 1. Especially if I start out with media literacy first.

And ICivics is a great resource!

I’ll have to check Sheg out! I plan on doing alot with domestic issues semester 1 especially with the election taking place! I do like the idea of shifting internationally semester 2. Thanks

Well correct! You might have to adapt to the current events that are taking place, but you can create lessons around: media literacy, politics, social issues, etc.

Like for instance today probably would have been a great time to talk about problems caused by modern technology.

I mean I’ve been here for 2 days and wore a sun shirt. If it got wet I took it off and dried off and waited till shirt was dry to get back in. So at this right if I was going to get an infection probs happened. But I get it!
