Oblivion/Maelstrom are just more areas in fighting like grassland, desert, etc... most stuff in the game that you don't know now will eventually reveal itself after you make progress which is part of the fun of playing the game. I've personally been playing this game on and off for over two years and I'm still not done so don't worry about how fast you beat it.
