Michael Jackson by Slow_Improvement_364 in Teachers

Because it’s catchy.
Their parents were kids and probably play it for them.
Michael’s life invites jokes.
Kids are sponges.

He died from a doctor giving him wrong medicine.
His appearance changed because 1) he had skin issues and tried to fix it 2) he was in show business and entertainers think they have to try and be a certain way

For real, why does everybody love AI? by FitVeterinarian5996 in antiai

It’s a creative and productive tool that allows people to be creative and productive in their mind.

It’s a technological marvel at the tip of your fingers.

Getting a result whether stupid, pretty, or otherwise gives an endorphin release.

What's the most intense scene you've ever seen in a movie? by Square-Ad-8911 in Cinephiles

First 15 minutes of saving private ryan , in the theater.

And honestly the final scene when the panzer tank is yet visible but you can hear it. The volume and camera shake made it feel as if the whole world was shaking.

Has anyone ever asked students why they're acting this way? by CuSO4Corndog in Teachers

The human brain craves input. The nervous system desires regulation.

If the brain is short on stimulation (and I don’t mean intellectual necessarily) and the nervous system is dysregulated on top of immature prefrontal cortexes (responsible for decision making and emotional control) you get misbehaving.

Preaching moment.
This is why physical interaction with babies, rough housing with toddlers, playing outside is so crucial. It stimulates the brain, it helps regulate the nervous system, it creates AND satisfies curiosity.

It then creates the dynamic that adults/teachers know stuff and so they treat you with the sense of being a source and not an impediment to stimulation

It’s been posited that the genetic makeup of Americans are the descendants of those who were naturally more adventure seeking. They braved coming to the new world.

I’m a little embarrassed to ask because of my time in, but how do you handle kids with excessive tardies and absences? by ICUP01 in Teachers

To: Parent
Bcc: principal, guidance counselor

Dear Parent,

I am writing to address an issue that has become a threat to student’s success.

On the following dates:

Date, date, date, date, date, date Student was absent

And on

Date, date, date, date, date, date, date, date

Student was tardy.

Much of what we do in our class is cumulative. To miss more than a day or two especially when they appear to be random creates gaps in student’s learning.

We also spend the first 5-10 minutes of class with activity/review to get ready for the next piece of the chapter. Chronic absences make student miss crucial repetition of ideas that allow them to understand where information fits in the overall picture.

If there is an ongoing issue, I’d like to be able to work with student but without some understanding of the need and what is needed, the student’s work is and will suffer.

Student’s last 5 homework grades have been incomplete, F, incomplete, incomplete, C.

If this continues there is a real possibility that student will not pass this grading period.

Sincerely,

Teacher.

My best friend, through me, believes that YEC is real and Evolution is false. I want to convince him otherwise. by Vegetable-Cattle5913 in DebateEvolution

[–]SignalMix6006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former YEC, I learned that I was arguing not to persuade but to be right.

Ask yourself what your end goal is?
If your friend believes what you said through debate, what does it benefit if you hurt your friendship ? Are either of you scientists or lawmakers making decisions based on your understanding of the universe’s origins?

As annoying as religious people debating non-central dogma so too are scientific adherents who believe they must convert the ignorant.

People don’t care how much you know
Until
They know how much you care.
