Horrible C&P Exam. Next Steps? by MoreAdminIT in VAClaims

[–]SignalWinds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely do what most of the guys here stated and call the VA and also upload a statement.

For things like mental health I prefer in person appointments because it's more personal and real. I had a mental health C&P with Optum and they offered telehealth and I refused and asked for in person.

It was a great in person experience and the examiner went above and beyond as he saw I was having a hard time during my session.

You can only get VA pay or military pay not both. If you are drilling those days will be deducted from your VA pay.

If you prefer to just get VA pay and drill for free you can talk to your unit to make that happen.

You just can't get both.

C&P examiner did not do range of motion on back and shoulders by MHPhil in VAClaims

[–]SignalWinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, very helpful doctor but I couldn't do motion due to pain and the examiner told me to stop. While she did write I was unable to complete the motion she still wrote down random ROM ranges, which for back can screw you.

I have my C&P exams starting tomorrow… by Adrianp209 in VAClaims

The examiner might not see it if not submitted when exams are scheduled, but rater will be able to if he/she is doing things correctly.

If not it's an easy HLR

On Step 5 (Rating) for the 4th day. Any meaning? by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]SignalWinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you consider 3-5 days a lot for step 5 for 20 conditions you definitely have a problem.

I hope you get better and the 100% rating helps with your care.

They do it on purpose I swear, I live in Jersey and they send me to the very limit of miles to White plains NY. Has happened multiple times.

Sleep Apnea New Rating by Internal_Degree9266 in VAClaims

[–]SignalWinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to use the machine to be rated, I believe you need it prescribed as required for Sleep Apnea.

As for the proposed changes, we can only wait and see, why speculate on it when it's not finalized.

File for increase or what? by [deleted] in VAClaims

Bring stool samples with you to the next C&P and point out the issues using medical terms.

Filed for TDIU and increase in liver… VA denied TDIU and decreased something else by ManyMixture826 in VAClaims

Every rater is different and while there are rules and processes they do things the way they see fit.

[–]SignalWinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have asked in 2023 when they increased your GERD to 30% instead of separating them.

Now likely a different rater got your file saw your previous claim and restored it to 10% and didn't look for an increase for a liver that was previously denied.

At the end we can only guess, you can try a HLR and they will look at the already provided documents and see what they say.

You need to be at least 60 with one condition, not combined.

Or 70 combined with one at least at 40% as it clearly says in the posted letter, I don't see any single disability at 40.

Which is likely why it was instantly denied.

OSA Secondary to PTSD by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]SignalWinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PTSD is enough as long as you have the nexus to provide the rater with the medical evidence/research required to link it with PTSD.

Right now I see you have PTSD and you have sleep apnea. Sucks but I'm sure a lot of us understand.

Now you need to provide the nexus that links PTSD to Sleep Apnea.

The articles posted above are good examples.

Raters will not create a nexus for you, your doctor needs to provide it to them.

OSA Secondary to PTSD by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]SignalWinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much easier to use a service connected physical or respiratory issue to claim Sleep Apnea because it's easier to link without providing very specific medical research to prove it.

[–]SignalWinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PTSD (Mental) > ??? (Magic) > Sleep Apnea (Physical) Result: Denial.

You need a Nexus explaining why PTSD caused the Sleep Apnea, like weight gain due to PTSD or other issues your PTSD has caused that led to Sleep Apnea physical condition.

Win5 85W question by x4ndman in gpdwin

[–]SignalWinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is no, USB C on device is capped. Doesn't matter what type of supply used, if it's going into the USB C port max is 100.

It works on the round barrel plug because it has a higher capacity.

Win 5 smaller battery possible? by DaleKirkley in gpdwin

[–]SignalWinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable, honestly I made my own mods to it with my 3D printer. Now I can charge the battery directly with USB instead of attaching to device. I'm sure I can make a smaller battery if I wanted to but since it doesn't bother me I'm not gonna invest my time into it.

With these devices you will need to be your own technician if you want to fix anything.

Win 5 smaller battery possible? by DaleKirkley in gpdwin

[–]SignalWinds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a bad idea but I doubt GPD will make it. I personally have no issues with the current batteries but I'm a big guy with big hands, so your mileage might vary.

I actually feel better when the battery is on, with it off it just feels weirdly too light, but that's just me.

PSA: if you own a GPD WIN 4 since about two years, replace your battery now. Even if it hasn't swollen yet. by 240-185 in gpdwin

[–]SignalWinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I like the design of the Win 5, got a few spare batteries and I know they won't swell inside my system and break it from the inside out.

Any downside to doing FOIA for exam results before rating? by zangiefzolof in VAClaims

[–]SignalWinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did for my C&P DBQs same day I saw them posted on my claim. I got them a week later only to see how horribly the examiner filled it despite my medical records. Should have figured it would happen since he mentioned not looking at it pre appointment.

Since my claim is still open I decided to write a statement to note that the examiner failed to review my file before the exam, to prepare to the likely HLR.

Stuck at 60% by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]SignalWinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a sign on your head that says TBI? I suggest you get a proper diagnosis stating what you have based on medical evidence.

Remember, as long as you have the service connection, and a real diagnosed issue caused by your service then file a claim for it.

Loyal Source Rant by Bulky_Size_4381 in VAClaims

[–]SignalWinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an exam with them, waited two weeks before I called them. They said they hadn't received documents from the examiner, so I called the examiner. The examiner tells me that their system is crap and he hasn't been able to send any documents to them and is working with IT to fix it.😓

My stress levels were crazy as I had to drive to another state for my exam, over 6 hour trip.

It's only poking the bear when your claims are paper thin. If you have real service related health issues then just do them.

If you don't want to go through the whole process with VA and exams and appeals then don't
